I've had this rattling/scraping noise for the past few weeks at around 1800 RPMs, so I took it in and they tightened my heat shield. One day later it was back so I took it back in again today. It turns out that there is something wrong with the waste-gate and they have to completely replace the turbo. Is this a normal thing? I am at 10,500 miles. So anyways I have to go back next Tuesday and have the turbo replaced. In a way it is good because it will be a brand new turbo, with no miles on it, but I am a little worried. My car is the first and only MSP this dealership has ever even worked on. Also I just changed the oil today to Mobil 1 synthetic, will they have to drain the oil to replace the turbo? Im starting to get stressed about this but luckily it will all be covered under warranty.

Yes the oil will have to be replaced. They will do it.
Or you'll be getting a new engine in the deal too.
Wait this is Mazda were talking about right?...
Maybe you won't.

They should be able to do it without draining the oil. . .no problem (but maybe they don't know that). :D
Sorry to hear of the problems, but it will be as good as new when you get it back! Zoom, zoom!

There's no way a compitent dealer or any mechanic would replace the turbo without draining the oil.

they better put that shit back in for me then, and not the crappy stuff they put in last time, my Mobil 1 has maybe 30 miles on it!

Don't forget to tell them that you have synthetic oil in their, they have no way of knowing that....

yeah I will, they just put it in for me today. I had to buy my own and bring it there, if I had've known prior to them changing the oil that this was a bigger problem I wouldnt have had them change it. I wonder what they did first, because if they went ahead and changed the oil after they knew that there was a problem with the turbo, then that doesnt make any sense. They better buy me some more Mobil 1 next week, or else I'll raise some hell.
