Okay, i've been reading about the whole flashing the computer deal and now my question is... my car will not shift from 4th to 5th over like 90 mph (dunno) . i'll take 4th up to like 100 and try to shift, won't go, as the car slows down to around 90, goes right in like a slut. i've asked car buffs and people with more car knowledge, they have all told me that it's the computer. they've been with me when i've tried. so if i flash my computer, could that possibly reprogram the shift points on my computer?

the re-flash doesnt have anything to do w/ shift points..it just advances timing.

sounds like you have a problem there. Theres no reason why you wouldn't be able to shift. It is definetly not computer controlled.

when i try to shift, it doesn't grind, it doesn't feel like it's hitting anything to make it stop from shifting...in a weird way of explaining it, it almost feels like i don't have enough strength to make a full shift. now if that's the problem, i need help

have you had the transaxle removed and torn apart? if you have sounds like a misaligned part in the gearbox or loose or bent part in the shift linkage/fork

There in lies the problem.

your computer has little to do with shit in the tranny.it sounds like a bent shift fork.maybe you have been shifting to hard?

i don't think i've been shifting to hard, i went the first 1000 miles without running the car hard for the breakin period, but right when i hit that 1000 mile number, i hit it and that's when i found out about the shift problem. i don't know much about the transaxle or shift forks, but why can i shift normal anytime but around 90 mph. if it was bent, wouldn't be a pain in the ass to shift all the time??

i'd say take it to the dealer, the computer couldn't care less what gear you're in

it's got to be a shift fork.
it's not a synchro or blocking ring,or even the dog teeth cause any of those would causeggear clash.and since it's not affecting any other gears it's not a linkedge or alignment problem.
