Hi everyone,
this is my first post, so bear with me for the silly questions. I have a Mazda3 hatch with everything expect leather and nav system. I took the car for the first oil change a couple of weeks ago and some models in the lot had the 2.3 emblem on the doors . Mine a few other cars I've seen on the road don't have them. I was just wondering if this was added later during production. The new brochures also show the emblem....thanks.

Yeah mazda did alot of changes...for example the V6 badges on the 6 changed size and location on the door for example...I got 4 2.3 badges and placed them on the doors where the 3's have them, on the trunklid where the 2.3 would have gone for the european cars and one on passenger side dash under the right air vent.If you want the badges the link is below...

thats the 626 and millenia....only the mazda emblem itself has holes...2.3 and mazda 3 are just 3m'ed on there. I like the badging....just my little phase for now....later I'll prabably shave them with the moldings.

Thanks guys. I will try to ask the dealer next time I am there. Actually, I think I would like it better if it was just one 2.3 badge on the rear lid on the right side, maybe right below my upcoming Axela badge....:-)

It's the Asian version of the Mazda3.

It's mainly for looks. I'm putting one on mine when I get around to it, since the car is Japanese and is known as the Axela in Japan.

supposedly if you ask the dealer, sometimes they'll give them to you for free. I've heard alot of people claim that. Otherwise, go to i could have sworn that corksport.com was selling them for a while (though i can't find them now...)

can anyone verify that for me, or am I crazy?

- just browsed through corksport and didn't see them, maybe they ran out. Mazdastuff has them but wants $8. In May I emailed Mazdausa and they eventually showed up though it took a while. I've left them off for now at least. Maybe down the road I'll change my mind.

By the way, Mazdausa sent them to me for free. If your dealer won't give them to you or you don't feel like asking them try emailing Mazda instead.

...offered them for free but I left them off. I believe they can put them on your car and call it a "warrantee item." This keeps them from absorbing the cost...

...or you can pay for them @ Da's link.

(hah) "Warrentied Item" but seriously it is considered a warenty item to most car companies...like the 01 dodges that had the words "Dodge" loved to fade and turn clear after like 6 months and were replaced each time under warrenty. When the 2.3 badges fade to include the on my dash I'll remove then and finally shave the car.

I think I will follow the advise of the board and ask the dealer if they could install them for free or give me the badges and I'll install them myself. I will be going to the dealer in the next couple of weeks, I will let you know what happens. C

OK so I sent an email through MazdaUSA's website, here is the email:

When I went for my first oil change I asked my dealer about the 2.3 badges for the Mazda3, which my car did not have but all the others on the lot do. They wanted EIGHTY DOLLARS to put the badges on. I almost had a heart attack. I have read in numerous discussion forums that people have gone to the dealer and had the missing badges put on happily for free. Is there any way I can get these badges from MazdaUSA rather than from the dealer?

We will see what happens!

That's pretty messed up what your dealer said. You should ask them if they've heard of this thing called the internet. Most likely they'll say yes, then tell them to check out this thread.

When I got my 5-door, it didn't have the badges. I asked the dealer and he told me that it would be $100 to install some. I told him to *&^ off. I started talking to the parts guy and he told me they were $10 each. Got them, and installed them in 10 min. They come with a template to get them positioned correctly.

That's funny, charging customers an hour of labour in order to put some stinkin' badges on a car. Priceless. :D

wow... here in Canada, the 2.3 badges are offered free to anyone who deserves them (anyone with a 2.3L engine)

Instalation is of course also free.

I was told by my dealer that it was an oversight at the factory and that they belong on car. Free of charge.

well pree 03 mazda V6 didn't get badges so the look like 2.3 but will own the civic like 50 cent attacking a guy with muscular distophy who mistakes them for a 2.3. the pre 04 3s did the same where there were no badges. mazdastuff has them..if you only order 1 for like the dash or the trunk they will be nice enough to send you an email asking if you want 2 cause the shipping will be same price.
