Me:
Hi,
Your 15861 cat-back for the 2004 Mazda3 has been listed as "coming soon" for at least four months, now. Do you have any information on when it will actually be available?
Thanks.
Them:
We are making a kit for this vehicle. However we are running a little behind on production so you could expect to see this kit in about 30 days. Thanks for your interest in Magnaflow.

I wonder if he's related to ol' Slobodan... (silly)

For sure he's not related to Fastbedone ;)

At least they're consistent!

That's what I got on Tuesday.

Now I'm just wondering if I should wait for the fabled Mazdaspeed exhaust in 12-18 months...

Just sent another letter:
Hi,
Your 15861 system for the Mazda 3 has been listed as "Coming Soon" for about 6 months, now. I asked you about it back in June and your response was:

It's been 60 days since that correspondence. Are you really releasing a system or is like a Yeti where there are rumors that it exists but no concrete proof?
If you guys get this thing out, you'll still be the first on the market and will probably have a lot of sales!
LOL nice one goldwing.
Someone on the exhaust/headers thread below this one said that there's going to be a J-spec Mazdaspeed one, or that's what I interpreted it as...
... Still waiting on his response.
Here is link to the thread:

What do you think?

Saw that. I don't think any Mazdaspeed parts for the 3 will be released before the Mazdaspeed3 itself is released, though.
(dunno)
You just never know, though.

Well, I have to give them credit. They at least respond to e-mail in a timely manner.
Hello Kane,
That system is scheduled for release towards the end of the year. We will update our website as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your interest and support in Magnaflow Performance.
PS. The reason why it’s taking so long to produce the system is because the Yeti recently attacked the truck transporting the materials. This unfortunately has halted production.

Ahhh... I knew there was a good reason, thanks.
I'll pass along this excuse... err... I mean correspondence to the eagerly-awaiting Mazda3 forum. If you're so inclined, you can pay us a visit at www.mazdaIII.com.
Maybe you guys should get some Yeti insurance or something.

There are a whole wack of parts listed on the Corksport website, including an AutoEXE exhaust system.... for $689!! :o

Yep. Seen those, too. Corksport prices are outrageous.
AutoEXE prices are even worse. Put them together and it's a lose-lose situation.
I'd rather make a custom system from a high-flow cat and a Flowmaster for about 1/3 the cost of that AutoEXE system.

Corksport prices are not outrageous, but the speciatly product line prices are (they don't make those themselves, they simply carry them).
Corksport prices are excellent.
We had a group buy for DP back exhausts. 2.4" SS, 3.5" muffler tip, $330. It doesn't get ANY better than that. For $330, I could have bought just an HKS muffler. But at CS, $330 can buy the whole system! :D
just wanted to clear that up ;)

Ok, I'll clarify:
Corksport prices on stuff for the 3 are outrageous. I figured since this was posted on the 3 forum, I wouldn't have to differentiate.
damn protege owners... *grumble*

hehe.
wow, it must suck having nothing available to modify your car with. ;)

It does and it doesn't.
It sucks that we don't have many bolt-ons but it's cool because we get to use our imagination and dream up new and exciting combinations of things.

it doesn't suck cuz you can keep some money in your pockets while you wait..

Just because something is available doesn't mean you have to run right out and buy it.
At least if it's there, you know how much you have to save up to get it.

yeah.. but as soon as i have a few hundred.. i know what's in line, and POOF, gone.
i suppose it's just my perception of 'as you go' vs. 'in one shot'... bigger effect if you save up a few grand and buy a whole whack of things at the same time

You must learn self control, grasshopper... (rei)

09-01-2004, 11:12 AM
hehe.. i'm slowly learning that one - but i don't like it :P
i do have my priorities - hence why my college class gets paid vs. buying a header (i actually considered that one)

buying things in a rush allot of times leave you with something that isnt quite as good as what you could have gotten by waiting.
Lil Freek
09-01-2004, 02:52 PM
i don't necessarily buy things in a rush..
i save up, and once i have the money, i buy what i want, cuz it's there.
i mean, i buy lots more things than just car stuff - so there's constantly stuff to buy :P i always research and read up on stuff before i buy.
my initial post was just in regards saving then modding lots in one shot vs. modding a little bit at a time over a larger span of time.
example: if you buy a header, CAI, catback, UDP and camshafts all at once, you're going to feel the difference the second you drive the car. but if you buy all of that over the span of 1 year, the same power is there, just doesn't feel like as much cuz it was gradual

You pay for what you got with custom exhausts systems. I would have rather spent the extra $200 on a coated, mandrel bent exhaust with proper flanges to be easily bolted. If you are going for sound then either way, but for power the mandrel bent will win that one.
what diamater was MF exhaust? also to take into considerations...how many un nessasary bends were placed in the custom setup over the stock and aftermarket will give you an answer. One way to ofically get a "Calibrated Reading" is Computer Dyno both exhausts.
