I hear a buzzing/rattle noise between 1krpm and 2krpm when its only in gear. I thought it was the heat shield and when I went to tighten it the damn bolt snapped off the first half of turn. I figured no problem and now the buzzing is still there. Im still not positive what this noise can be. Any ideas? I only have a injen CAI and a forge BOV with a hardpipe from the IC to the turbo. Everything is tight. To top it off my damn alarm keeps the parking lights on now when its activated. Could I take the car to have the alarm fixed at any mazda dealer or does it have to be a msp dealer? I really dont want to take everthing off to have the alrm fixed. has anyone been able to get it to work without haviong the module replaced?

This is freaking weird. I have just discovered this buzzing noise on my car today. It does happen when throttle down slightly and under load, but seems intermittant. The thing that really bothers me is that I installed my B&M shifter and Kartboy Bushings today (which feel great btw) but now I hear this buzzing. I can't think of anything from a shifter install that could be making this noise. The noise also doesn't happen at idle or even revving out of gear. The only similarities in our cars is that I too have the Forge BOV. Can anyone give us some insight?

I assume its a rattling noise at idle? I dont think its the BOV but you can check if its hitting the pipe for recirculation. I remember I had to cut the silicone hose when tom was installing mine.

Other then that I dont know what it could be.

does it do it all the time? or just when you first start driving the car? tell you what, if it gets any worse, you can come park your car next to mine..it'll be the annoying mazda corner..and hey! i'm local.

if the buzzing/rattling sounds like its from the engine bay, replace the front motor mount with an AWR motor mount. Its the front heat shield. Theres a small gap that after about 10k miles on the car most MSP's start making this little noise. It's almost a tick if its the one i'm thinking about. The MSP stock motor mount rattles a bit differently. When i replaced my motor mount (front) it went away.

also check your exhuast area, mine had the same problem right before the exhaust snapped.

yeah, im about 90% sure its my motor mounts. I had that suspision when it was rattling durring idling and with the AC on it seem to get worse. I'll probally order AWR mounts because I know the stock mounts are shitty. Funny thing is its exactly 10,000 miles when it started rattling. It happens when you push your engines and shift agressively with stock rubber mounts.

My concern is the idling if I replace it with urethan front motor mounts

mazdas motor mounts are designed for driver comfort, not for engine friendliness

It happens when the car first starts as well. Its only in first and second gear and only when you lightly get on the gas. Its annoying but I can live with it. I just wanted to see if anyone had similar problems and if it was my mods that caused the noise. I may try the motor mount if it continues to get louder but its been staying the same so far. I was under the car a week ago looking for exhaust problems but found none.

Check your exhaust there is a bracket that holds the exhaust under the car that connects from the transmission to the exhaust. mine cracked and could barely tell that is was there. I had to retighten down and it fixed my rattling.
