Hi Everyone,
It looks like i'm gonna be getting an '02 protege 5 soon. Can't wait. I've been reading the forums and it's obvious that everyone here loves there P5. I'm just wondering if there are any things you don't like about the protege 5 ? Any little quirks i should know aobut when buying one ? Any issues I should look for when i take one for a test drive ?
I can't wait to get my new car, and I look forward to posting and reading in these great forums.

Mo' Power!!
Get a manual tranny, the auto kinda robs what little power our cars have. Other than that, I can't think of one little thing I dislike about my P5. (thumb)

Mo' power eh ? Well since I'm coming from a Hyundai Accent, the P5 already feels like a rocket ! (rockon)
And i'm going for a Manual Tranny for sure. Automatics take all the fun out of driving !
welcome to the forum.
my car has no quirks, but there are a few things most members dislike, such as thin paint and the lack of power. overall, it is a very fun car to drive and im sure you will agree when you get yours.

Yep, I like my friend's a lot, however like others have said - it needs MORE power - of course, this is do-able w/the aftermarket support...

Welcome!
lol...I know how you feel. I went from and auto CR-V to a P5. Quite an improvement, but I still wish it had a bit more gittup-n-go.
What the car lacks in power it makes up in handling. It is a blast to drive!

Amen to that, sister! It's got a heckuva lot more punch that my Cavalier did, and mine IS an automatic. (yippy)

Welcome. Its a great car to drive(so much fun in the twisties). like the others said power is an issue. the only real flaw i see is that mileage is average until you mod and the engine is a bit noisy but then again we arent driving a BMW are we.
Dislike:
slow acceleration
clutch
low hp
not much choice of aftermarket performance parts, so u have to spend so much more money for the mods than other cars such as civic, corolla, etc
But it's still go good car tho, and I love it, especially the looking~~(cool)

I'm sure you be happy! I love mine, but graded to a speed, then bought a SRT-4.
Notice that I bought an SRT-4 but did not upgrade to it. I like it..

Sorry for the (jacked) -- The thought of someone spending money on aftermarket performance parts on a granny-looking Corolla makes me laugh. Really hard.
Is there really a big market for this? I don't think I've ever seen a modded Corolla!

Oh, well, too bad for you! ;)
Honestly---I don't have any complaints so far about my P5---well, maybe the easy-chip paint, but other than that, it's a super fun car to drive!

How can you not love a sloppy clutch and a cold knocking engine in the early morning? It brings a tear to my eye everytime. (puke)
