Has anyone adjusted the ebrake before? I assume that it doesn't use abs right? Just wondering cause my ebrake (fully engaged) does not lock the the rear tires.

Thanks,

Paul and I did ours before. I forget what the hell we did.

I recall there being some "cap" we removed so that we could adjust some bolt.

You can tighten up the cable, just remove the center console cover and you will see it. HOwever, does anyone else have to pull hard for the tires to lock up? On other cars, I could just tug on the ebrake to lock them up but not on my P5. I am thinking that I need more than just the cable tightened...

As the brake pads wear on the back brakes the e brake gets lose. Need to adjust it.....

This will become pretty important for me when my pads wear. I almost NEVER leave the car in gear when parked. Only when I'm on a steep hill.

Take your center console off around the shifter and e-brake. there is a nut there that you adjust to pull on the cable. A good idea is to jack up the back wheels when you adjust it so you can get an idea of how much you are changing the tension. You don't want your ebrake on too tight or else it'll just drag your car even more.

Another way to adjust the rear is to just manually change the piston position of the caliper so it is more closed on the rotor - once again, jack up the back and figure out how much drag you're willing to put on the tires so you can lock up the back tires.

There is a correct "at-rest" tension for your back brakes, don't remember what it is...

you don't have to remove the center console to get to the adjuster......just lift the e-brake handle up.

Let me clear something up here. Every parking brake setup since the 70's has an auto-adjust so you DO NOT need to adjust the parking brake. As the pads wear the cable is automatically adjusted at the caliper. This is the same for your regular brakes. Why do you want to lock up your rear's with your parking brake anyway? It holds properly on hills. What else do you want?

Ebrake slides....for what? In autocross? Because I'm guessing this is just for fun. There's no reason to use the e-brake on a proper handling car. You need the back end to come out more? over-inflate the rears, get a bigger sway bar or take some camber out. Otherwise, there is no reason for this.

I was thinking about adjusting mine because I parked in my friends driveway, which is very steep and the car rolled back. Luckly I was in the car and mashed the brake down.
