Yeah well that's if you have good radio stations... try driving down to CT and listening to the radio for more than 15 minutes without wanting to shoot yourself :P ... we had a good modern rock station but clearchannel threw it out, replacing it with yet another rap station. all we have left is one modern rock station (which is independent so they don't play much new stuff... so i can't listen to that station).. and then one "hits" type station that doesn't play all that much rap.. then a bunch of rap...

I listen to the following while driving (depends on the mood):
papa roach
incubus
311
orgy
linkin park
staind
blink 182
armin van buuren techno mixes
bush
no doubt

to me techno is just a no-no during the day, it just seems like music for when it is dark outside.. maybe it's mixing the plants and animals all moving around and living outside with the cold syntheticness of techno that just doesn't work for me. the more outdoorsy i feel, the more analog the music i listen to (incubus, staind while driving down a forested road... 311 driving down near the shore/beach), no doubt/bush/linkin park while cruising on the highway)... i'm gonna end this post it's too long.

Enya's great for the long cruises.... when you're on your way to a job interview!

If I wanna drive a lil fun and crazy, I look no farther than Mauro Picotto's Lizard (techno). Also there's Superior (aka winning) from the Dynasty Warriors 3 soundtrack that just sounds awesome. Lil Jon's Get low sounds kick ass in the car w/the spare tire sub.

Otherwise yeah techno rocks. Fuck the Milennium, Melt in the Ocean, and DJ Quicksilver's Heart of Asia remix all sound kick ass in my car.

THere's others (also too many to think of)

Also, for some reason, the girl's voice from Evanescence makes me want to drive fast.

Actually I'm 27, but I tend to listen to a lot of classic rock. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Police (not exactly classic or rock, but still), Bob Segar, Eric Clapton, etc...

I like most types of music and I get bored when I only listen to one genre, so classic rock is 2 of the 6 presets in the P5.

If I'm truely driving at the limit, I can't listen to anything. Just takes away from it for me. The sonds of tires, wind, engine, are half the reason why I like to drive fast...

Hell I even do it when I'm NOT driving. All my friends get pissed when I turn the BG music off on gran turismo.

protegeV
06-15-2004, 02:22 PM

Love listening 2 Zombie Nation-Kernkraft 400 when I'm pissed and want to go fast but cant b/c I'm boxed in. After I start speeding up, then I start listening to Initial D songs b/c it makes me feel even faster. But when I'm going on a road with a lot of turns, I stop all music and listen to the tires screech in each turn.

Wow - you get 1 bajillion points for mentioning tricky, and a multiplier of x5 for picking Maxinquaye.

Bit of trivia for you - his mother was Maxine Quaye. He's the uncle or cousin of Finley Quaye also. Tricky rules.

Personally when I'm driving - it could be anything from James Brown's "Poppa don't take no mess" to Cake's "The Distance". DJ Keoki's Disco Deathrace 2000 is good too. From '16-bit genocide' to 'feels so good', good music and alot of great memories of girls from high school. Morning after drives are usually either Coldplay or Dune, quite a difference between the two, but it works for me.

Oh, and Portishead.
Life improves with a good soundtrack.

Current Changer Lineup:
* Mix CD, featuring a few cuts by Underworld, including Moaner, which was used in the motorcycle race in "Batman & Robin" but is a good song despite that
* Throwing Muses, "Hunkpapa"; classic 90s alt-pop
* Fountains of Wayne "Utopia Parkway": Good pop songs to sing along with when alone and with the windows rolled up.
* Bjork, "Debut": Offbeat, low-key. Starts strong with Human Behavior. Warning -- Track 4, There's More to Life Than... starts off with a whooshing noise that sounds like something bad happening under the car. Freaked me out the first time I heard it.
* The Donnas "Spend the Night": Music by which to get busted for Reckless Driving. Maybe that's just me

I forget what's in the 6th spot. Possibly something by the Shamen.
