I wouldn't come out smooth. Would also be very difficult to get it to look right.
why do you want to color the one in the steering wheel?
on a side note: dexter makes colored ones for the front of the car. at least i think he still does.

I want to have it be the same color as the rest of my interior. I have pieces accented in red, will have red door panels and seats and the steering wheel piece is still chrome. I thin it would look better in red.
The outside emblems on my car are blacked out. Once I get painted they will all be gone.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing a while back. I used Metalcast to do my trim in red so I figured I could do the same - would take some precision masking talents though. Can you take the steering wheel out easily? If so then I guess it would be a matter of taking it out, precision masking it, painting it and reinstalling. Booyah.

You can pop out the emblem in the center. I can't see it turningout well buy painting it. It wouldn't be smooth.
Definitely would take some precision masking talents.

Yeah it is, can always glue it back on or use 2 sided tape. Kinda like the rest of the emblems on the car.

Well, yeah, but arent you afraid of bending it? You cant buy just that emblem as far as i know, unlike the rest of the emblems. have you thought about using the Flying-M emblem from the hatch of the P5? Would that fit?

I'm not to worried. I do things like this all the time on every car I have. I think the emblem on the hatch is to big.
Would be cool if someone like Dave B could make some emblems to say whatever ya want or whatever symbol ya want in there. Could also come in different colors.
Anyone know how to contact Dave B or someone that could make this?

You can just pop it out, really? Anything tricky to it or is it just a simple pop? Werd, I'm gonna do this. :D That damn thing catches some mad glare in the sunlight anyways. Bah. (fight)

I'm not gonna gaurantee that it pops out but I am pretty sure it does. I could be wrong though. LOL To me it looks like it will come right off with alittle help from you. This is how I would go about it.
What you gonna put in that spot once you remove the emblem?

Well my plan was to remove it, paint it, then put it back. I'm going to have to research this one though, i.e. go out to my car and take a look. :D I'd like to do something like this. If all else fails does anyone know how to take the steering wheel off?

Yes the steering wheel is easy. Take out the airbag (two bolts on the sides, covered with little stoppers). Take off the nut, 20mm i think, and pull like mad. youre supposed to use a steering wheel puller but i never have.

GL on painting it. Takes pics if ya can so we all can get clarification on this subject.
Not sure how to get the wheel off, Might be some screws behind to get the Airbag off, then a nut to take of the wheel.

I'll check it out; can always mask to compensate for overspray. I'm mad good w/precision cutting so that shouldn't be a problem, just don't want to paint my whole steering wheel red!
