How can I get the most bang for my buck? Where would one start to :
1. increase power
2. improve handling

I've thought about a shortshifter. Can I do it myself? I'm not an experienced do it yourselfer.

What's it cost to get better tires? I like the stock rims.

I think the turbo is more than I want to spend right now. What is my best bet power wise without going turbo?

Any advise is appreciated. I'm not looking to take it to race or anything, I just want to make it even more fun to drive. I've got to say that this is a great car for the price. I think it's too bad they raised the bar with the 3 series, and eliminated the Protege. Got mine used with 3000 miles. Can't imagine why you'd trade that. Bought for $9300 total. I thought it was a sweet deal.

welcome to the forums! you did indeed get a great deal on such a low mileage car!

a short shifter takes hand tools and a half hour to do, even for the not so mechanically inclined.

we sell everything you need to customize the Protege : http://www.mazda3online.com/index.php?cPath=27 be sure to shoot me an email with questions you have; Ken@mazda3online.com
