Hey everyone, i heard that the AWR motor mounts would help my car with traction from helping it prevent the notorious "wheel hop".... but then again.. is it worth it? does it help that much? and i heard it will make ur car shake like a mofo! ionno.. anyone who knows about this please reply, thanks again. oh yeah, anyone know the pricing?

if you drag race your car, than it IS worth it. It gets rid of all wheel hop.
And yes, at idle the car will idle real rough

I have just the front motor mount and the vibration isn't that bad; I actually like it because it makes my car feel so much more solid while driving...if you are the type of person that doesn't like vibration then I don't know, but the front motor mount only will not add TOO much vibration.

throttle response is much improved as well, but after a while you just will want that rear mount. combination of the mount breaking itself in and you getting used to it, you'll want that second mount. wheel hop and powering out of a turn you will feel that difference as well.

motor mounts are allways worth the gain the only reason they are so soft is cause mazda didn't want to make new parts when they made the speed so they used the reg protege, with were designed not at all for performance but just to keep things quiet.

front mount takes no more than a half hour, seriously. the rear takes either $50 of labor at a shop or a few hours of your own time. we can get you the AWR front mount for $65 shipped.

hey captain do you have both mounts on your car? I have both of them, but only installed the front. I dont know if i want the second one yet. I have only put 150 miles on the front, and thats because i drove on the interstate out of town, so stop and go they it only has a few miles on it.

check out kooldino's mount he is making, there is a thread in the performance section.
I had just the front MT AWR mount in for about 6 months and i have had the front and rear AWR MT mounts in for about a year now. they dont bother me all that much, but the car has some rattles, is louder, and getting out of 1st can get rough untill you have mastered it.

I did notice better launches and accerlation. It is like the power is going directly to the wheels. Vibration does not bother me. I know my car is running lol....

i am told the AT style are softer, and the rear one is shaped differently to accomodate the larger transmission

It is like riding on a riding lawn mower vibration. Not noise.
It is a little less then when you mow your grass lawn mower..

i feel that this is way off. im sure they dont make the motor mounts strictly for the "speed" because they made the cars so that anyone can own them. plus not everyone would like the vibration. they made a car that is pretty much for everyone.

just buy the mounts... these same questions have been asked two hundred times. i was also sceptical before i put in my front mount but now im really glad i did it. makes the car feel solid like someone else said before. its a great mod if you like getting power where it really needs to be instead of jumping

I understand that, but our mounts are the softest mounts I've encountered.
I have an inch of space between my hard pipes and my mastercylender and under hard driving conditions they hit each other.
you couldn't say that about any other car.
why is it that the only mounts we have for our cars replace the whole thing.
someone needs to make some nylon inserts.like they do for the srt-4 and neon's.

I have the rear A/T mm in and the car vibarates hard when the engine is at ~1100 rpm EVERY time. Once you get past that point the vibration is completely gone. It vibrates hard only at ~1100rpm nothing under or over. Or when the car is cold and the rpms are still in the 1k-1.5k range you can't hear yourself talk, but that's about it. I got myself the front A/T mm as well can't wait to put it in :D The wheel hop is almost none existant now that I have the rear mount in no matter how hard I try to make it hop I only get one or two hops.
Good luck.

Word. Shoot me after him. Try a search - I've posted about the mounts at least a jillion times already. CustomMSP pretty much nailed it -- his description is exactly my experience with the front and rear A/T mounts.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to remove my mounts by fall and put the stock ones back in. The annoyances are not worth it unless you auto-x a lot or go to the drag strip.

I was thinking of taking the rear out in the fall because on colder nights here(50s) the mount is a lot harder and the vibration is kinda bad. The whole car rattles. But on hot days(~85 and up) you can barely feel the mount after a few mins of driving. I have a stock filled mount with 80a shore urothane that I'm gonna try very soon with the Front AWR mount.
I put rear on as well and took it off. Front does enough to get rid of the hop with a minimal amount of vibration

But it's the lash that was pissing me off not the wheel hop. With the rear AWR I still get lash. Hoping the addition of the front AWR the lash will disappear.

ya, our cars do seem to have quite a bit of on-off drivetrain lash!

see, shit like this is why search doesn't always get the answer you want. just say yes or no, and answer the question, it's not that hard. if it bothers you, just don't reply. From my use of the almighty "search" i was under the impression that the rear A/T mm were not only softer, but larger physically, which is why i asked if they would fit. CustomMSP answered my question and then some. thanks.

Rear A/T does fit Manual car.......
i have the front AND rear AWR a/t mounts, in my manual car. it fits in there fine. there has been no problem.
the vibration at first was a pain, but as they wear in and the vibration lessens slightly. my suction cup ezpass holder only occasionally goes on the windshield (only when i need it) because it vibrates a lot. but that is just as likely to vibrate like that from my subwoofers. my passport 8500 is also suction cupped to the windshield and at idle occasionally vibrates to annoy me..
the mounts are they are phenomenally better than the stock ones, particularly because now i'm actually pushing much more power than stock.

I have had the front MT installed for a week now, and the "vibration" is way less than i expected. It is really only noticeable at idle, and more so after driving a while. Like someone said, there isn't any sound (rattle), but the steering wheel vibrates slightly.
The whole front of the car feels more solid, definitley worth it IMO.
Oh yeah, the front mount can be installed in under 30 min. You need a 17 mm socket for the stock bolts, amd mine came with 19 mm new bolts (2), so you re-use one of the old bolts as well.
I highly recommend it, and am planning to install my AT rear mount this weekend.
