View Full Version : Possible problem with my car (no turkey)

Just did a battery change to optima 75/35 red top last night and I had to remove the stock air box to remove the old battery (don't have the lug for the strut bar). I double checked the connections and took it out for a test drive this morning. I noticed that the turkey is gone and the car "feels" a bit faster. I missed the turkey... Any ideas as to what happened?

THanks

normally people w/ CAIs just hear the turkey that has always been there more, since the CAI amplifies the noise

I guess it's normal.. but not acceptable ;)

i heard it with my original airbox, but barely at all, you really had to listen for it. Now i can hear it with CAI. I would worry about it man.

Anything I should double check? I've already made sure the airbox was correctly connected (plus tight)...Could it also be the hot weather?

DUDE definately. My CAI today i could barely hear the sucking sound or the turkey. Hot weather effects it alot. Something to do with heatsoak and the density of the air. I dunno, its like running. If you run when its real hot, its harder for me to breathe, than when its real cold. Plays the same role on the engine.

That may be it!!! It was very hot in New York today...I guess I was just paranoid because of the timing.

I just drove it a few mins ago and it's still the same. I remember the last time the car behaved this way was when the dealership left my intake open...I'll check it again tomorrow. Is there a good way to see if there's a loose connection somewhere?

start the car and spray wd40, brake cleaner, hairspray etc onto each connection point. if the engine revs, you've found your leak. don't use gasoline, napalm etc though :)

Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow morning...(minus the gasoline and other explosives ;))
