As with any new product, people tend to say things they don’t know, or assume something that they read is a fact. Before everyone starts making assumptions about the Unichip system, Jack from Unichip has agreed to answer any questions people may have. Post them here, ill summarize them, then ill get them to him and post his answer's.
PLEASE dont post anything but questions you have for Unichip.

I think a bunch of people have asked this, but do you have to run the Unichip at the boost levels specified with the part, or can you use the chip with stock boost?

Has it been corrected for the flashed ecu's yet? Also what about the injectors?

Well there is a switch that you hit to use stock boost or the higher level. The question people were asking is if you can install it without putting the boost controller on at all. Just trying to clear that question up.

Besides voiding your warrenty?
To make this one more clear I'll add what most people were asking in the previous thread:
There is a switch that resets the ECU if a problem is encountered. How often does this occur and what effect will that have? I know the stock ECU learns driving habits (as stated in another thread) so will resetting the ECU have an effect on gas milege, fuel map, etc?
How many test miles have been logged to show that it's safe to run the higher boost for extended periods of time?

keep them comming, ill send em tomorrow morning.
Again, questions only please.

The dynos are confusing in that I don't know what mods are installed on what dyno. Is the baseline dyno chart stock or does it have mods? Also, a 25hp increase isn't too far off from what you would get with an extra 2 psi of boost even with just a MBC from what I understand (1 psi ~= 10 HP).

How many test miles have been logged to show that it's safe to run the higher boost for extended periods of time?I don't have the UNICHIP (yet) but I have put 40k miles on my car and the VAST majority of those miles has been at 10-12PSI and for a small portion of time, about 3 months, it was running 12-15PSI due to a factory repair that raised the boost sans the MBC :) <O:p</O:p
I drive a hundred miles a day, have hauled 3 kids and my wife around on vacation with our luggage all in the sweltering Texas heat at 70-80MPH, along with the basic daily stop and go grind, with the occasional mad Speed Racer driving fit here and there with nary a hiccup other than a broken exhaust which was replaced under warranty and of course the bushings for the clunk fix.<O:p</O:p
So all in all I have been very happy with my MSP and my dealer. I don't beat my car to death all the time and I keep my Little Nubian Beast impeccably maintained so all factors weigh in on your question but for me long term reliability so far at higher than normal boost has been fine.

In addition to installing without the boost controller-- I am wondering would we save money (hopefully $150+) if we opted to order the unichip with no boost controller at all??

Well 12 psi in the Texas heat is different then 12 psi in cooler weather. If this is realeased in a form that boosts it to that level then I would hope they did the testing to make sure it's still safe in a variety of conditions.

1) I am flashed and would need the chip to reflect that.
2) I have a turbo back 2.5in that isnt from corksport, plus hard pipes (on the way) and an SRI - you told me last night i could run the stock maps because the chip "learns", but on corksports website it says they have different maps if you have an intake/exhaust/blah blah - So which is it?
3) I wanna see some actual numbers on a WB dyno showing the A/F ratio and WHP on a stock vehicle (or vehicle with exhaust and intake) but NO raised BOOST. This will accurately demonstrate how well the chip can correct our f*cked up ECU.

Is there any plan of integration with the MAF Sensor to stop the spark/fuel cut?

If this is realeased in a form that boosts it to that level then I would hope they did the testing to make sure it's still safe in a variety of conditions. Well while it is hot in the summer it gets into the teens in the winter. It liked to hit the fuel cut under the mids 30's but damn it ran nice from the 60's down to the 40's or so :) I never turned the boost down during cooler weather I just kept my foot a little less buried in the loud pedal.
I am all for this device. I especially like the 14PSI low down and 10PSI up high idea... I am READY! I fear not the BOOST!
However, 800.00$ scares me a bit (boom05)

How much is it going to cost to have the Unichip remapped for future upgrades? Who can provide this service? Tell Jack job well done!

Is there any plan of integration with the MAF Sensor to stop the spark/fuel cut?In all my research the Unichip uses the MAP, not the MAF as one of its reference points for fuel adjustment, as well as the TPS. The Cam Angle sensor is used as the ignition reference. It changes these signals to alter the output of the other stock ECU signals. So to avoid fuel cut the TPS and MAP sensor work together to alter the MAF voltage. That way the ECU never can see when the MAF is reading voltages that should induce fuel cut.
So yes, the Unichip allows control of both the fuel and ignition maps.

are the maps ready for a flashed car? Probably 90% of all MSP's are flashed.

I know this is not the right thread for this, but after cruising around the Miata threads, they seem to be having the same problem we are with shitty fuel maps. Does Jack have any plans in development for MS-MX5 Unichips, seeing its obvious success here?
