Today I installed my front AWR motor mount, it made the car feel much better. But now in 1st and 2nd gear it is much louder inside the car, the whole way through the rpm range. And it first it almost feels like my exhaust is binding a little when I take off. Any ideas what it could be??

I've been told that they have to break in then it won't vibrate so much

I don't even realize mine anymore. Did you make sure you tightened the bolts up really tight. I went back and got about another 1/4-1/2 turn out of the bottom ones.

I tightened the bottom bolts to 65 ft lbs, and the top to 80 ft lbs, I had no idea how tight they should be but thats what I put them at.

it'll loosen up in a little while. Youre just getting more feedback from the car.
Makes for a noisier ride.. but its worth it.

They'll loosen up, then you'll break something in your transmission because the shockloads that the motor mounts were designed to absorb will now be transferred through your transmission.

really. hmmm it seems as if everyone without the MM who had tons of wheel hop were the ones ripping their differentials apart.
did you have the mounts when your diff broke?
im just curious.

whats your suggestion?

Mazda designed their motor mounts for a smooth fealing ride and nothing more. Doubt you'll see many problems from switching to a set of motor mounts that actually do their job.

for long term i think the stock mounts were designed and tested to last. That is why oem parts a lot of the time are better for durabilty and legnth of life as opposed to aftermarket parts.
who do you think has done more and spent more on R&D on motor mounts and length of life; mazda, or awr? Mazda most definately.
Personally i like the mounts because they give the car a stiffer feel, the wheel hop is elimininated and the car just feels more solid.
Im sure the oem stuff is good for long term but awr is good for performance.
Then again after only 8K miles my stock mounts were done. Then again im sure i pushed them a little more then the "average" end user.
Overall, i think the awr AT mounts, the softer ones, are a good solution.
I like my solid ones and i will stay with them.
In regards to the tranny breaking i dont know. I DO know however that wheelhop is the devil and can ruin stuff easily over time. Then again what blkzmzm said about the mounts transferring shock to the tranny has a lot of truth.
All that wheelhop has to go somewhere and it gets transferred to all the other parts of the engine/drivetrain.
I say the at mounts are the way to go.

i have both of the solid mounts in. For some reason the idle feels softer then my buddy's turbo mp3. he did get the mounts before me so maybe he got the hard ones and i got the soft ones i dont know but his idle is a bit rougher then mine. then again his car has like 58K on it.

Yes I had the solid mounts in when the diff. popped apart. On a side note Mazda has a new lsd. IT SUCKS. I had no choice to put it in my car today. I'm gonna try to find another option because this new lsd sucks a big one.
