Been searching all night on the forum for an answer for this question, but found nothing. I am going to buy the Vis Evo style carbon fiber hood. I wanted to know is there a part like WingsWest has for there hood" http://wingswest.com/products_detail.asp?page=1&id=1925" that will block water from entering the engine when it rains, washes car, etc... So far I have only found that WingsWest makes these for there hood, will it work on the Vis? If not, is there anywhere else I can go to buy some for the Vis Evo Hood?
Thanks in advance for your help...

vis has a thin sheet thing already underneath that runs to a channel off the side of the hood, its removable with screws

Thanks for the response Emode. Oh ok cool, so when it's hot out and the weather is nice, I can simply just take it off with a screw driver, then put that cover back on when it rains?

eh? i didnt think water on the engine is bad... unless the alternator gets wet..., cuz your engine gets wet anyways when it rains thru the grill?

Yes, water on an engine is bad, especially in a heavy downpour. But question about that sheet on the bottom of the VIS hood. Does it still vent air out of the top with the sheet on or do you have to remove it?

Care to explain how water on the engine is bad? If you dont think water gets in your engine bay with your car being stock, your wrong. Water splashes from unernieth the car, from the grill, and any other crevice it can sneak in from. :D

Eh, maybe it's not that bad for the car, but dramatic temperature change from that much water can't be good. Anyway, if the EVO guys are fine with it, I guess we should be too, right ;)

Dude, lots of water splashed from under the car. Have you looked under the hood after driving in the rain? How about after going to the carwash?

I dont see why it should bother it, as long as your intake is out of the water you should be fine, look at all those people with monster trucks that go under water they have a snorkel and thats it(I think) Point is should be fine.

Water will not affect your engine unless you dump a frikin bucket of water on your fuse box, battery, spark control boxes or alt. I have opened up my hood many times and SPRAYED it with water with no ill effects.
A frikin Evo hood will not cause issues with water, except for the fact that you will have to wipe it down a bit more often.

The water that got into the engine bay caused my coil packs to die, and water got through the spark plugs. The car wouldn't run at all. But if you don't consider that bad.

I even had made some plexiglass grilles to cover the vents with when I had to park in the rain. The very first time it rained with the hood, the next day the car would bog down all the time. This all occured within a time frame of about 2 months.

i have the VIS evo hood and the first thing i did was take that plastic peice out so the heat could vent. i've been driving with it like that for atleast 3 or 4 months and i've had no problems
