I have been to thier shop. the turbo back is not a turbo back. It is an S pipe back just like an Apex downpipe and catback. It is also hella expensive like most Perrin stuff. the exhaust is going to be between $799 and 899.

I have been talking to them for a year now since they bought thier MSP. They keep telling me "next week." They were supposed to call me last week to come pick up an SRI. The FMIC requires removal of the bumper beam and is going to be about $1499.

They told me last week that they were not going to do the fuel rails, but were doing a rear sway bar. Talk to different guys in the shop and you will get different lists of things they are building.

I am keeping up to date on thier stuff, I will post something as soon as I hear.

They say no, but why then spend twice as much than the Corksport exhaust? But then again, I was behind a WRX with Perrin exhaust and it did sound real good...

yes, Perrin IS big in the wrx market, and its great to see them making stuff for mazdas now. I just hope people dont bitch about prices and buy this stuff as it is real quality shit...

That is not necessarily a guarantee though, they could have skimped on the MSP parts, since it snot their main focus but lets hope thats not the case :D

Bitch about prices? LOL everyone on here bitches about prices. always.

always.I think it ahs to do with the age range. I see people on baords with cars that cost <20K whine about $5 here and $10 there for every part that comes out, yet you see guys with STIs, EVOs, even SRT-4s dishin out thousands like nothin for computers, BBK, turbobacks, FMICs.

I think its by and large the unreliability of the vendors...Im not familiar with most of them , this is just what I have read.

Company comes out with new product...
Price may be high but people want it so they pay for it, or put a deposit
the buyers wait...
wait some more...
vendor says one more week...
two months later buyers are waiting...
everyone flames the vendor...
Everyone think the company is shit, or prices are too high when they are actually just slow...

I never read much of that stuff happening on the subaru board i was on. Company anounces they are making something. They make it in a timely fashion and dont take orders till it is STOCKED. Ship everything out in a timely order, and most of the time it all works great, and if it doesnt, there is by and large great customer service...

Unfortunately this is not what I have beenr eading about on this board(shrug)

Whoever is local to perrin, can you please do me the favor of taking a pic of the intercooler kit if it's made..They seem to make I/C systems that would be more desireable for an application with a larger snailshell..I was planning on doing my own spearco system until this came up and it could save me some time if it's what I'm looking for...Most kits I've seen for the msp just seem adequate for a t28 to a T3..I plan to run with a big boy in my MSP and if they make a nice kit that can handle the flow with the type of pressure drop I'm looking for, I'll probably buy it..Thanks to the guy that started the thread and the guy thats local to perrin..

well, perrin is known for making big ass i/c kits. not sure the exact efficiency and flow rates but as far as size their pretty damn big when looking at their wrx/sti, evo and srt4 kits. *thumbs up* that they're doing msp stuff. good products.

"How can I find out when the Mazdaspeed parts are here? I have a
2003.5 Mazdaspeed protege, and interested in your products. Let me know. Thanks." (Several parts are available now. The adjustable short
shifter, cat-back exhaust, front mount intercooler, intake system,
gauge pod, boost controller. Please call us at 503-643-4677 for a
salesperson that can help you with those purchases!)

"I like the way these silicone intakes look. Are they going to up the
performance for the Mazdaspeed protege, and what size is the tube 3"?
Is it a full intake system coming out, or just from the turbo up? If
it's a full intake system, is there going to be a place to put an up
graded blow off valve on the intercooler tube as well? If so, I'm very
interested in purchasing one of these system when it comes out. Let me
know, thanks." (The intake system extends from the inlet of the turbo
to the filter assembly. The BOV will be available very shortly for the
car. Again call us for more detail.)

For now, we can check out the same parts for the other cars to get an idea of what they look like. I know I would personally buy about 1/2 of the things they make for the EVO/WRX/SRT4, but it would help if they would add pics, prices, & make the link to all of that work.

Here are the EVO links to the parts they are making for us:

http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/intercoolers/Front.html

(hopefully they make a heat shield for our SRI like they did for the EVO)

(not an UDP, just lightened)
http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/radshroud/radshroud.htm

The original post said they were also making fuel rails & suspension parts, but this latest update doesn't mention those. With all of the people getting EMS now, I think we definitely need those fuel rails & more suspension parts are always good.

Hey I have an update for the perrin parts. I email them all the time asking about thier parts for the mazdaspeed and this is what they told me....

Thank you for your continued interest in our products. I apologize for
the delay. One of the members of our staff passed away and we have been
running on a skeleton crew for a while. To compound matters we are in
the process of moving. We decided that it would be best to delay the
release of the Mazdaspeed product line until things have settled. Our
worry is that we are not prepared to keep up with the demand of these
parts in our present condition. Full work staff we begin again next
week as well as our new location. I would estimate these parts to start
showing up on distributors web sites and shelves mid to late next month.
Front Mount Intercooler , Intake system, Short shifter, Exhaust system
will be the first parts available. All of course following the PERRIN
classic style. for intercoolers, intakes and short shifters.

I apologize for the delay. Unfortunately it is truly due to something
out of our control.

Thank you

S pipe with the separate wastegate piping

PERRIN_JOHN
07-28-2004, 08:38 PM
Lightened crank pulleys and radiator shrouds seem dooable. I passed those ideas on to R&D.

Our exhaust will be a down-pipe back exhaust system. "I think"....The exhaust system will include a catback system as well as a cate delete pipe. Our current collum mount gauge pod will work in the MSP. Try Vividracing.com, Worldoneperformance.com, or JSCspeed.com. (Not trying steel a sale. These are current vemdors who should have the part in question, in stock.)

R&D thought the sway bar mounts were an OK Idea. If there is enough interest.

Awesome, looks very nice. This is the first time I have seen endtanks like that. Is it just the pics, or are those endtanks 90 degrees to the core?

YES, The front mount intercooler allows for the use of any direct bolt on, factory replacement blow off valve.

We own a Mazdaspeed protege'. We own ALL the vehicles that we manufacture parts for. It is the only way we can accuratly produce the parts and ensure that they work in real world situations.

They are not at 90º to the core. Allthough I see now the picture does look that way. They are at an angle just shy of 45º.

Yes our FMIC does come with a new bumperbeam. 2 reasons. Safty #1 and it gives us a nice solid location to mount the core.

And a comment to all........

im just intersted in the cams and bov fittings. if they could put a stock bypass valve fitting in the i/c pipe unlike everyone elese ( I love the turkey) perrin is were ill buy. see i think like this, for the most part i want a fmic but everyone and there dog has the hks ssq bov: I beleve the turkey is a unique part of the msp and, by that rational, would like to keep it. plus chicks dig it. oem style pipeing to a fmic sounds best to me. sooooo please consider an option of oem flanges where others have chosen to put mounts for aftermarket bov's. those of us who like the stock look would thank you

sorry for the long post

Perf Works or someone was supposed to be making cams (several different stages actually), but I haven't heard much from them lately.

Injen intake + Forge BOV and stock piping. Love it reminds me of a JDM drift car. Or Veilside supra... ;) or Kei office S14 Silvia. It is unique to the MSP...thought about changing it myself but I love the flutter and theres alot of people who like it too.

Glad this didnt turn into a SRI vs CAI thread. Perrin knows whats best ;) Cheers to Perrin!
