Bad idle.

My idle sucks. Mainly when the fan kicks on. Now way worse with the AC on.
Even today while breaking to a light the idle went down to about 100, the CEL came on and this sucks.

My lights dim all the time too which sucks, and lately the a/c control light has been flickering.

when i go home i'm putting it back to stock, to see if that was the problem, but has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Help a brother out :)

Check all of the connections. Intake, I/C pipes, and all vacuum hoses.

Have you reset the ECU since you installed the intake? Theres the problem.

if not maybe a ground wire kit would help?
Maybe you accidently losened the airtemp sensor?

I reset the ECU a few times since the install. I've been driving for a month atleast since the winter storage and havent' had the problems till now. Well, some rough idles, but no cells.

i'll check the hoses.

what kind of setup r u running?

is it a true short ram, or just an elbow on the plastic pipe?

stock bov. just a 45° elbow and a k&N filter. i'm waiting for a new Gromet for the air temp sensor now.

I had a similar issue with my Injen after install. Turned out one of the couplers was a little loose.

put stock box on and forget about that crap setup u got right now.
or get a CAI.

u dont have a short ram, with the setup u got right now u are loosing power and waisting much more gas than u should.

I've got like 12K miles on mine and my idle sux too. I have the ingen setup. The air is very humid here so it might have something to do with it. I got my car serviced by Mazda last night, with an oil change and there point inspections and it runs a lot better today. Usually I'm a do it all myself person but two of my friends work for Mazda so they said to bring it in when I was telling them about the idle.

My idle sucked when the hot air was blowin right on my open k&n filter. Then i got a "cai" style intake, and my idle is fine.

Thanks lots. I thought my car was fuked. I'm going back to stock. I guess i just liked hearing the turbo better and the bov.

Has the price of a injen gone down? or is there an other alternative at a cheaper price? I'm livin off my mcard already :)

if you have a SRI, a heat shield seems like a Very Good Idea with the fan arrangement of this car.

if you arent worried about your warranty, you can cut the bottom half off the box then throw a k&n panel in there, since it pulls from the bottom it isnt quite as hot down there. Ive had mine like this for over a year, works pretty well.

it sounds like the air going into your filter is waaaaay too turbulent and screwing up the MAF readings. Try extending it over the hole in the fenderwell, that may fix your problem and still give you that nice sound.

I had that prob when I put a cone filter straight on the MAF when I had the stock intake. My SRI sits right next to the fans, even with a CAI my idle sux. I think it started when I changed my plugs. It just drops to 400-500 rpm every so often then goes back up to 700-800

nah, i'm just going to look for a wheel well location. its gotta work well in there. then fan shouldn't affect it any.

I agree, ditch the SRI idea and go stock or a full CAI.

P.S. Are you going the the Kingston show this weekend?? (headbang)
