I am originally from Brooklyn, NY. I graduated from PalmSprings HS in PalmSprings, Ca. I was in the U.S. Army from about 8 years. I was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, several places in Hawaii, and Ft Richie, MD. I was a COMSEC Technician. I got out in Nov 97. Been in Omaha, NE since then. I graduated from ITT Tech in December of 1999 with a A.A.S. degree in Electronic Engineering.

I was married for 8 years and I have 2 girls, 6 and 4. I have been divorced for almost 4 yrs. I have a fiance now that I have been with for 3 years. She is my best friend and the best thing that has happened to me, besides my two girls. The tenative wedding date is around June of 2k5.

As far as my love for cars, I grew up around cars. Both my uncles had car lots. I spent lots of time there working on cars. In Cali, when I was in HS, my stepdad repo'd cars. I used to go with him allot and help him. This was so much fun and I laugh at the guys on the TV show Repo men. Its such a joke. I got to drive allot of fine rides. We also used to buy beat up cars, fix them up and sell them.

When I was in Hawaii, I got bit by the import bug. I bought a new 92 Honda civic vx hatch. Loved that car. That's where my love for imports came from and has grown since then. I have been involved in import stuff here in Omaha since 97. I was part of a formerly big car club for years, called Contagious. I do race Auto-X and Drag race and I am looking into roadracing. I used to have a 13sec N/A Del Sol that me and my friends from 4NSPEED (a defunct tuner shop now) built. I now have this P5, which has seen better days, and I'm working on making it a sweet ride.

Just a little info about me.

My fiance's stomach was bothering her all last week. Finally, on Friday, the pain was to much so I took her to the ER. We both had no idea what it could be and the thought of her getting pregnant wasn't there since she was told by her doctor years ago that she couldn't get pregnant due to complications from her past.

Anyways, 5 hours go by and they took tests and sonigrams. The nurse comes in and it she tells us that she is pregnant. Great news! Then she says it looks like its an ectomic(how ever you spell it) pregnancy.(which bascially means things arent where they should be and the pregnancy will be a nogo.)
No my fiance is all upset and I am too. They decide to keep her over the weekend and see hwo things will go, and also cause shes still in allot of pain.

The doctor comes in later that night and tells my fiance that actually the pregnancy looks OK. Great news. The doc says she will observe things over the next 2 days to see how shes doing.

Fast forward to today. Everything looks ok as of now. Still not out of the water but if all goes well, I will be a dad, again, for the 3rd time. YEAH!

Hope this rambling makes sense.

I know theres a bunch of Mazda owners in this town. Once the club gets going and they see us rolling round, see this website and the club website when its up, more people will join up.

The last car club I was in at one time had over 35 members. We didnt even try to get people in. All where imports to. I know this club can grow and be successful with the quality of people I see in here and that I have met.

Are you looking for date material???

I haven't had anything done to my car since I got it, so I don't have any experience with Stan Olsen yet as far as service. I bought my P5 from them USED, and at the Nissan dealer. They gave me a frickin' Nissan key chain....why the hell would I want that?? (It was purchased new from Stan Olsen Mazda)

schkmgr, are you interested in joining? Just wondering cause I haven't seen your post yet if you are.

I am going to try everywhere I can think of for car stuff for discounts/freebies for the club. What I want to do is first get atleast 10 paid members, get the banners on the cars, get the cards made up and make a profeesional handout about our club, website and member listing. If I present the club in a professional manner this will help in getting the things I mentioned above.

So a few things that need to get done asap:
1) get atleast 10 members.
2) Need to collect club dues
3)I will get the banners/side logos made up. ( does everyone want them to color match there car? Let me know)
4) I wll get club id cards done. Nothing fancy
5) I will get a club handout for business's.
6) Webiste up and running ( nothing fancy to begin with)

Once this is done, then I can start on looking for discounts and such.
Then we can get the ball rolling on the first club event. So on and so forth.

I just wanted to make sure SHCKMGR was in due to not getting #15. I work near 50th and L. I take lunch around 1pm. It is possible for me to meet up at lunch, just depends on where we meet, how much time it would take to get there.

Maybe we can get some of these folks together next week for lunch----or I could do a short introductory meet next Wednesday night...somewhere out here....I get off work at 5:00 and have a class at 6:30 at Millard South, so I have some time to kill.

Home of the college world series and you dont like baseball.

Ugh, baseball sucks. So boring :)

I'll be doing a bit of browsing in here...I've mainly just been hanging around in the 3 forum. Came to peek to see if I could find the guy that parks near my apt complex on the weekends with the exact same style of 3 (but he's a SD plate, so...)

I haven't had a whole lot of time for things like meets lately. I still try to make lunch meets with the RX-8 guys I know around town when I can, but...I dunno, we'll see.

Hey there, Phil!

Hope you'll also check out some of the threads about MidWest Mazdas....our new club. We've got 10-12 members so far, and would love more.

We just had our first official meet last Saturday....had a good time.
AUgust get-together looks like a Paintball outing down at CedarCreek--the place is called Mad Cow Paintball.

This fall we'll have a scenic drive through the Loess Hills...more info to come on that one....it would be great to have lots of Mazdas "along for the ride".

I'm reading up a bit on the MWM club. I've never been an active member of a local car club really - I'm kind of an honorary member in the RX-8 guys club right now, but its only 4 or 5 guys, and they haven't come to terms on club dues yet.... :D They're generally busy guys too so it's been challenging even organizing the lunch meets. I've only made it out to one so far.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your guys' events as they come. Pics from the July 10th meet looked pretty good - all P5s, eh? I read through this thread and was a little surprised, I figured everyone would be at least as young as I (23).

Dunno about the paintball...we'll see. :) You guys having any more little lunch meetings or anything soon? I could throw the RX-8s an invite when I see meetings/etc for some well-rounded zoom zoom, if you'd like. Weekend and after work stuff may be tricky for me to attend regularly....somehow all the freetime I envisioned myself having after graduating just hasn't fallen into place. I blame hockey (I just started playing this summer), and the new gf :D

I'm also not the biggest car guy around. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy cars more than your average joe, but I'm also primarily a function-over-form guy. While I enjoy cool, expensive cars, or modded-out beasts, if you can't tell from my photo album, I don't do a whole lot of modding on my own cars. Something like a project car would be cool in my mind, but I can't justify spending much money on souping up my daily driver, etc.

So I might not be the most interesting guy at a meet, but I'd still like to hang around with some local owners if I can get the chance :)

What's up phil....

I was just wondering about this whole rx-8 clan you have been talking about

Is there an rx-8 specific club in omaha?????
If so, why are they not interested in MWM?????

Red Zeppelin
07-13-2004, 02:24 PM
Well, Phil--

I'd say most of our members so far ARE fairly close to your age......the President and I are a little older. We have no age requirements and no age limits!!! You just have to drive a Mazda! Mine is completely stock, so don't feel like you have to be into mods.

Yeah---we'd love to get the RX guys in MWM....we want to be about ALL Mazdas, not just P5s. :P

We could probably arrange a lunch meet sometime..........do they always meet at the same place???

Red Zeppelin

oh---one more thing, Phil.....
feel free to bring the new gf to meets. (I'm a girl.) All the guys bring wives/gfs --some of us bring kids.

There could be more than one with how many 8's I've seen on the roads. They've probably never heard of MWM. Allow me to make them keen, I'll see what they have to say :)

No, but the couple meetings they've had have all been out west somewhat. The one I went to, we made it out to the pepperjax on 132nd and Centerish.

hehe...with our schedules as they are, I'll be happy if *I* can make it out to at least a few :)

She says she likes the car, though...well, at least she humors me as such

Hope you all enjoy the rainy rush hour like I'm about to!

Hey guys, sorry I'm so freakin behind.

NAME: Ric (Ricardo) Berry

WHAT YOU DO: Network Administrator, World Technologies

WHAT OTHER THAN CARS YOU ENJOY DOING AKA HOBBIES: I'm a total computer nerd. Although I do enjoy playing video games, I haven't broken into the console stuff yet. I'm pretty hardcore PC. Besides cars, I'm big into music, mostly the indie scene around here. Also, I'm a moderate audiophile. Just dropped some bucks on a nice turntable and am really getting into vinyl. I got LOTS of movies, write, paint, that sort of thing. I also love to cook, big foodie. I have a motorcycle that I'm trying to sell :(. I don't ride it anymore. Its a 2000 Honda VTX deluxe. Great bike (Mazda doesn't make motorcyles, but Norton used to build a rotory bike).

COLOR OF CAR AND WHAT TYPE OF PROTEGE: 2002.5 Silver Protege5. DGM CF Ram Air hood. DGM accents, Mazdaspeed exhaust, Kartboy knob, short shifter, bushings, exhaust hangers.

The reason I haven't been on lately is that I've gotten myself a new job. Unfortunatly, since the company is owned by the World Herald, security is tight, mostly cause of me (opps). Therefore, I can't really check on my sites like I used to daily at my other job. I'll try to make it a point to check nightly. Lets see, a little past. I'm originally from Eastern Iowa (and Guatemala), then moved to Des Moines area (Ames), married, divorced, moved here. Been into Mazdas my whole life. Started out with a MX3. I meet Eric a couple months ago, I was dating a girl that lived in his apartment complex. Well, 3.5 months later, thats done so I don't see him much anymore. Anyway, I was thinking about selling the Prot, wanted to slip into an Audi and work on it (Quattro Coupe), but I'm holding off on that right now. I'll keep the MP5 around, I am in love with that car. Good to meet you guys, I really want to get involved with the club. And yes, please find a nice, unattached girl who loves Mazdas to join the club ;). I need a new girlfriend! If you can't find me, write me at pap3rkut@cox.net. I always check that account.

Take care,
Ric
