6/4/04 Worst Day of my Life. Accident

I got my protege a couple weeks ago. Went for a drive today with my brother, planning to put on an exhaust today. At a stop sign, brown ups truck turning right, i was going to turn left, behind the truck was a van that I honestly did not see, pulled out, all of the sudden the van was going 50mph into my front left fender, Jesus, it hurt bad. Fluids leaking, engine smoking, my ractive intake snapped in half, front bumper gone, left and right fender, supports broken, intercooler broken, frame damage, bunch of stuff. I almost cried and I'm sure I will sometime. I have full coverage so they will fix it -500.00 deductable, and also the other fan just messed up the bumper, 1 headlight, and 1 fender. I am hoping to get a carbon fiber hood, where can I get one? Thats only if it doesn't total out. All the body shop guys said it was borderline on totaling out. What else should I get? the whole front end is gone, so there are headlights, fenders, hood, bumper, intercooler, all that stuff...What would you reccomend? Could I get a mazdaspeed front bumper and where could I get one?


Thanks for helping me in my time of need and after being upset with my car, I thanked God I was not hurt more than some mnor, minor pain in the legs and back. My older brother was not hurt. If it is totaled, I might buy an integra, because protege ES's are very rare in my area. Thank you all.

Just FYI. ALWAYS be careful for at least 2 months after buying a new car. The new car "Reaper" is out there to get new car owners, ESPECIALLY if you own a Mazda. Ask anyone on here. lol My three last cars were hit by someone else's neglegence within 2 months of buying them. First one was a teenager that threw herself out into the road at the last minute, second was a school bus that hit my PARKED car and left the scene, third was my Mazdaspeed when some crackhead ate the red light way after mine had already been green. First car was 2 weeks after I bought it, second car was one month after buying it, third was 2 months after it was bought. Next car should be hit somewhere around the 2 1/2 - 3 month mark. lol

damn, there must be a curse on us protege owners=). seems like every other day someone else is getting wrecked. anyways, sorry to hear about that. sounds like about the same amount of damage that was done to mine. mine only came out to be $6117 tho, so i think theyre going to fix it. which is cool with me, although now i have to give the stupid 3 back. but yea, glad noone got hurt too bad. but just remeber to keep your head up, it can always be worse=).

What is it about our cars. I almost got into three accidents within my three years of having my car.

First one was I was driving at about 50 on the highway coming from the border when a guy decides to jump out of a stop sign, stop and then jump out some more. I slammed the brakes, fishtailed a bit and swerved and floored it to avoid him. Man was I mad.

Second I also avoided another jumper at a light. I actually drifted on this one but got control again. I was so close to the other car I actually saw the other person get scared and put her hands on her face.

Third I avoided a mustang moving into my lane and pushing me into the carpool lane in Phoenix when I went to buy some rims one time. Flipped her the bird afterward(fu).

Not to be bashing but two out of these three were women. Please girls be careful, and guys too. Quick reaction is what saved me on these ones plus knowing how to drive my car to its limitations helped. I LOVE MY CARS HANDELING! (2thumbs)

this is just too funny .. or sad as it may be .. I don't feel alone anymore LOL 2 months after I bouth my Prot LX, I was driving to Tampa and a SUV in front of me ran over a blown retred from a semi ... the retred stood up in the middle of the road and there was nowhere I could go .. small dent in the front lip of the hood and a few nice scratches and had to replace the grills ... sorry to hear about you car, and everyone elses ... maybe we should start a support group for bashed Mazdas LOL :cool:

I don't remember how many close calls my car's had, but about 2 weeks ago, she finally got kissed on the back passenger door... sliced her up pretty good. I think I'm gonna take the opp to get her painted black.

yea my car recentaly got hurt over the past week, it had just started raining hard and when i was doing a slow u-turn in a housing edition, it was kinda downhill, so it freshly raining my car slid i slammed the brakes and yanked the wheel the other direction but it was no use it has just hydroplaned broad side of the passengar side rim anyways i hit it hard i guess i scuffed my rim up, and bent my lower control arm, and screwed my alignment. well i found a control arm for my car for $90 from www.Mazdarecycling.com, thank god, just waiting on it to install it.

Here you can see how good the condition of it is except for the front and you can see the extensive damage. It happened so quick...just please everyone be careful, and I now know what kind of damage vehicles can do and never, ever say this can never happen to me, I used to say that and well now look...Thanks for all of your help guys.

i dont think you will be gettin this car back. way to much damage to the front end especially since it looks like you migh thave frame damage. insurance will most likely buy it from you and then sell the parts. good luck in any case.

Ive never been in any wreck yet(thank god) but i had a thread up from a long time ago when my dad hit a fuc%!n dog in the middle of the street! He was coming home from a party and was a lil drunk.It snapped the lil part of the front bumper under where the fogs go.He tried to save money so he never replaced my front end,he just bought me new grilles for it:(
