what has a better body style? mazda3 or mazda6?

I prefer the exterior styling of the 6, but I think the 3 has better styling on the interior. The only thing that I don't like about the 3 is the short wheel base. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a little too skinny looking from certain angels. Hopefully, when I get some Eibach springs that will cure the problem....

As far as exterior looks go, I really don't give the trophy to one or the other. I'm a sedan guy...well, really, more of a coupe guy, but definitely not a hatchback guy...and to me, they have the same appeal: nice, aggressive front end, so-so rear end. Good profile (w/oem side skirts).

I like the 3's interior quite a bit, but also like the 6's. I'd still rather have the 3 overall though, for the slightly more gas-friendly 2.3L (I'd have to get the V6 6) and slightly more light/nimble stature.

sorry to fuel the fire with this topic, but i've seen a bunch of 6's around and they personally don't do much for me. i have to agree with goldwing about the bulging tail lights, i really, really don't like them. i personally think when it comes to body style, the 3 has the 6 beat easily. I'm not just saying that because i own one, but it's just my opinion. interior-wise is a different story, but again, i love my 3 and think for the money and the competition, you can't beat it.

i think they're nice, but i still like the 3's style much better. the 6 is much too long, and those damn tail lights drive me crazy. either way, both are nice cars, and i'm kinda sad (even though i expected it), that i'm seeing more and more 3's on the road. my count so far....six mazda3's since i bought mine about a month and a half ago...

Ok. I'm one of few who've owned both so hopefully I have something to say.

STYLING-WISE ONLY: I like the front light assembly of my 3s better than the 6s. The 6 was nice, but the 3's look like something on a spaceship, like I might open up a laser barrage on someone in front of me. I had the original grill on the 6, but the slats-stye on the 3 is easier to take care of and keep wax off of. But I think the coverings on the lights for the 6 were tougher; the actual material they were made out of was more robust and didn't chip so readily.
The rear, I think the 6 is better without the spoiler, but the 3 is better WITH it. But it looks like the actual viewing area out the back of the 3 is just right, but a spolier may cut it down too much. And the spoiler for the 6 is too big.
The 6 has those 2 rear exhausts-- cool-LOOKING, anyway, if if they're fake-ish. The single chrome one on the 3 is good, but not as ferocious as 2.
The Trunk design on the 6 is better. The 3 has an odd joint that gets snow and junk in the top, which can fall down into the trunk itself, no good in the winter. And the 3 has no good place to grab or let down the trunk, and the design doesn't let you get things in as well as on a 6.
ALso, I like the side repeater lights on the 3. They need to be clearer for during the day, but at night they can let people next to you know when you're switching lanes, and eliminate guessing on the parts of others. when you're making a turn on a dark road and someone's in your blind spot.
ALso, the side mrrors on the 3 fold back. Not usually important, but when it is ... BUt the 1st 6s had no antenna; much more classy and preferable.
And the color of the 3 is visible on the interior door frames as you're sitting in it; pretty cool.

i did the sig in my post and i didn't do anything to shorten the wheelbase of my car, if anything, i had trouble cutting out he edges of my tires, but that's it. either way, it's a sweet looking car and i don't need you to tell me that.

They are just jealous of the 3 because we took over production and they wont have any more to do with the car since they dont make them anymore. Our cars are nice and everyday I come out to drive it I am in awe. I had a camaro with a lot more power and I downgraded to this car because it drives so smooth and its an eye catcher. It also has the variable valve timing which in the long run will help with the mods. Its just too bad that the proteges dont have the better engine like variable valve timing and a variable valve intake. Oh well sucks to be you. (bird)

I love both the 3 and the 6.

I have a MZ3 sedan and love it. Don't like the hatchbacks. The 3 and 6 are completely different looking in style.....the 6 is bigger/longer and the back-end is not at sharp at the 3. If I had a family, I probably would have purchased the 6. Just depends on what you like in terms of look and how much money you want to pay. The 3 is less money obviously, but the look and performance is amazing and you definitely wouldn't be disappointed!

The "3" sedan has very nearly the profile of the BMW 3 Series, except

I wish I can fuse the rear end of a Mazda 3 with the front end of a Mazda 6. The interior of each car, I like them each as much as the other. Mazda 6 is faster and has greater high speed stability.

I personally like the 3 HB best by far! And yes, it is because I have that style (why would I say I like a style other than what I have?? If I liked another one better, i would have purchased it!). The HB has a European look to it. I find myself somtimes just sitting in the front yard smoking a cig just looking at it. I have had a few people approach me asking what kind of car it was. One couple said they just bought a Pontiac Vibe (I inwardly snickered) and my 3 looked like a "fast" Vibe lol.

When I was lookin' for a new car (between Civic Si, Toyota RSX, VW jetta, Scion tC, MZ6), the 3 just totally stood out and caught my attention. The 6 was nice, but just didn't stand out enough IMO. Some of the competitors had some points in their favor, but the 3 had the right combination of all features: decent performance, nice handling, kick-@ss exterior, nice interior (need I go on?) - all for a price that's hard to beat.

One thing I would've liked in the 3, and it's purely cosmetic, is dual tailpipes. That is probably the only thing about the 6 that I like better. I know it would serve no real purpose, it's just aesthetic. Other than that, a little more power stock (like 200hp) would be perfect for me.

Im bias twards the 6...3 and 6 are 2 difrent markets. I wanted a 3 but 6 at 1st sight won me over. Lapis blue is so much nicer than the colors ofered in the 3's catagory. We could go on and on forever about tsps and mris till we got grey hairs all over and still never win and arguement. Those who have a 3 feel the 6 is ugly/bland and those who got the 6 thought similar ir the same twards the 3. Hatch vs hatch I would take the 6 over the 3 cause I'm not a hatch person. that traditional hatch rear end just doesn't do it for me.

I think the 6 is much more attractive than the 3 (the flames are rising!!!)
In fact, I would go as far as to say that, in terms of styling, the 3 is far less attractive than the Protege it replaced (it's a burning ring of fire!!!)

Next to the original styling of the Protege and 6 the 3's me-too styling looks contrived. That arching roof line (stolen from the VW Passat , btw) has been used too many times on too many cars to still look cool-- everything from the Nissan Altima to the Ford Five Hundred. And the 3 wagon's boxiness is no match for the Protege5's subtle curves.

Still, if I were buying one... I'd probably still go for the 3. The 6 is not exactly a gas sipper in V6 trim. Yeah I know there's the 2.3L 4, but who wants to be "the slow one" ;)
The 3 has gas mileage as good as my Protege and it's a FAST car with the 2.3L. I call that a bargain... who cares what it looks like! (2thumbs)
