Hey everyone, I've been causing trouble on the 3 board and it gave me an idea. Has anyone built a rally-prepped Protegé? What mods were done, how much did they cost, etc.
Also, does anyone have a cost estimate for a used 3rd gen protegé with the 2.0L that is bone stock and could be used as a project rally car?
Thanks!

talk of a rally 6 in 2 seasons from now if a good AWD sytem can be made to handle that stuff, but thats a factory built racer and a different car. there was a 1st or 2nd gen pro in the indoor rally at the carlisle show in PA, and it was AWD diesel.

My dad talked a guy down on my car, he originally wanted 7800, I ended up getting it for 5600, privately owned 1 owner, 2001 Protege ES (2.0L) 5 speed with 57,xxx miles. Great car with no problems at all, we took it to have all types of tests done before we bought it, compression, etc, etc, etc. Look around for paying anywhere from 6k-8k.

Some guys actually won a rally last year somewhere, I saw it in SCCA's magazine. Name was "Burmeister" or something like that. The car looked weird, with a huge light dealie on the front of the hood, and all jacked up like a 4x4. It was 2WD as far as I know.
