Im just wondering what could be the potential of the fs2.0, if its like totally rebuilt ie. pistons, rods, cams, etc. plus turbo most anything you can think of...just a thought i had while i was at work here lol:)

The Tri-Point Engineering cars that were raced in the SWC (Sports World Challenge) series were getting around 240HP normally aspirated. I think you can buy one of these bad boys (the motor, not the car!) for about $14,000.

sorry what i had meant was what top speed could i get if that was done to that engine?

The fs-ze 2.0 gets most of it's power from lightweight internals such as pistons, rods, cams... etc.. so replaceing them might not be needed.. as for the engine block it's self I'm not sure if anything or how much is different then the US engine block.

sorry what i had meant was what top speed could i get if that was done to that engine?Top speed? What are you going to do with it? Are you looking for overall performance or must the maximim, non-distance related top speed? Your question is rather vague in terms of "performance". No offense, but "top speed" really is unimportant.

It doesnt matter whats the top speed is, IT MATTERS HOW FAST YOU CAN GET TO THAT SPEED (thumb)

I think what this guy wants to know is whats the highest speed that anyone has recorded so far from their 2.0. I have an 01 LX 2.0 with minor engine mods (underdrive pulley; intake/exhaust camshafts etc..) and I've been clocked at 137mph and I'm sure I could've pushed it a little more, but I started to run out of freeway.

uhh yea you definately didnt go 137mph in a protege with those mods buddy, or your speedo is definately fucked up or you were going down a 60 degree hill...i have personally toped out 5th gear a few times, no idea how fast that is...

i got to 220kph (137.5mph) on saturday just past :D :D :D

i could have kept going a bit more, but the speedo tops out at 220 so i slowed down

so it is possible....but then agani i have just a few mods ;)

unless you are in NASCAR racing, stay off the street going that fast, keep that kind of speeds for video games... you might just hit something, not today, not tomorrow but someday you will. Thats just crazy and stupid to go over 100mph, unless you are at the track.

Keep going fast and you'll end up like that red car in the tree in that other thread.

Top speed isn't determined by mods or power, but the gearing of your transmission. Mods and power adders just makes it possible to reach the end of the gearing or reach your limit quicker.

Not sure if anyone is truly interested, seems like everyone is getting flamed for posting anything on this. Anyway, I was on a road trip shortly after I bought my 03 Pro5 and crusing on the interstate... there were no cars on the road that I could see so I figured I'd top it out just to see. I was going down a little incline (not much of one) and near as I could tell my spedo showed me somewhere between 125 - 128. So that's my $0.02.

And just as a disclaimer... I've only done that once, just to see. I don't drive to work at speeds in excess of 100mph.

if you guys really want to know the top speed of the car, why not jack up the front wheels and go through the gears till you hit the limiter in 5th? No wind slowing you down or any other kind of resistance, and the speedo will tell you how fast the engine and transmission are capable of taking you. Just a thought, slap me if this is a bad idea.

all stock, no hill, 128mph exactly on the highway. i would like to recommend that its really stupid to do that cause if a cop sees u thats ur license and a jail buddy. also no reason to really do over 90mph unless on a drag strip.

well said man! People who go faster than 80 on public roads are plain stupid. No need for that at all. Save it for the track. (wrc)

I wasnt talking about going that fast on the street. All the question pertained to was the performance of the vehicle!

Once I break in my motor properly, I'll let you know when I bury the needle.
