The downpipe probably will not increase boost but give you faster spooling and more power from a decrease in back pressure. The wastegate is opening at the same pressure so I could only see an increase with boost creep or boost spike.

There is a big discussion about this on another thread. Apparently some people experience more boost when adding a good DP. There were some good explanations but they are too long to remember. I think some people said they had like 1-2 psi more. Dont quote me on it though.

The increase must be related to boost creep then. I know on the Sti for example, adding a larger dp will cause a lot of boost creep because the wastegate opening is too small. The same is probably true for our cars.

2.5" w/cat and custom 2.5" to the RB muffler gave me 1psi, and very fast spoolup.

My set up produced 1-2 psi gain. The boost stays there throughout the RPM's. It does not fall off like it used to. The down pipe also allows for the turbo to spool up quicker. However, the stock MSP has no real spool up issues in my opinion.

I am also running the Greddy SP2 exhaust system. My downpipe is catless and 2.5".

almost exactly 1psi with the corksport pipe
