I am thinking of purchasing one, but wonder what the gains are on this motor. Every motor respons a little differently to UDPs. Also, I am being cautious because it is an expensive little f**ker!

You're not really making your motor any more efficient, per say. The motor will still be putting out the same amount of power. However, since the motor has to work less to turn the pulley, you will see more output to the wheels.

Yea, I know, but on a Mustang 5.0 you can see as much as 10-12hp at the wheels with a UDP set. I know that the Mazda 2.0 won't come anywhere near that, but I wondered what kinds of gains if any that people have seen. On the fOCUS a crank UDP was worth anywhere from 2-4hp depending on the size of the pulley, and a better reving motor as well...

When it comes to NA, every hp makes a difference. 2hp here, 3hp there etc.

yeah u will see those numbers and effects but if u have a system u might want to think otherwise. Also make sure to use the specified belts, in the case of Unorthodox they are gates belts.

How's the quality? For $200 bucks it had better be damned good. My 6lb lower blower pulley (Lightning) cost $3 less than that!

Its definately lighter than the stock pulley... Make sure u get anodized too so it wont slip as much.

how does anodizing allow less slipping? Is it because the surface of the metal it sorta scored? i mean you are electronically attatching a chemical to the surface of the metal, right?

bare aluminum is more slippery than when it is anodized. Anodizing gives the belt something to grip although it will eventually wear off. Another route is to paint the pulley once u get it so that it reduces slippage. IMO occasional slipping belts is the only downside.
