anyone know if this produces any gains? if it even works? my friend has an extra one im thinking about trying but i dont want to fry anything, the harness is the same but i dont know about voltage readings and etc..

Can you test the voltages on his car and then on yours with a DMM? That should give you the answer of whether or not you can use it without frying anything. As to gains? No friggin idea, but if you do it- let us know!

I cant see how it would give you any gains.. its not restrcitive..

if im wrong could someone explain.. without a piggy back or standalone how would it help?

Yah, I don't really see why, but if the voltages are the same- hook it up- maybe there are some suprises to be had-

i dont see how that screen with the tiny wholes in it isnt restrictive, maybe just descreen it like a f-body?

alot of people have descreened it. personal choice really, gains wont be had by doing this. I thought I remebered a thread where someone explained that some manufacturers put that screen in there as a baffle to regular how the air flows, not necessarily how much of it. Dont know what else it could be except maybe a way to measure air speed, and I dont see how that could be.

RX7 Airflow meter gets the 1st Gen cars gains. Takes a bit of tuning, but I got about 3hp overall, and 5hp at redline. Not much I know, but tis the life of NA.

is it the flapper door maf those are off fc 2nd gen rx7's and i doubt it will help any

Ya, they are. I was just volunteering info for the 1st Gen Pros. Won't help the newer cars though.....
