Guys,

Just thought I'd share this to show that not all dealers are pricks:

I called last week to the dealer here in the Denver area about the parking light issue with the alarm (I know we've seen enough of the threads about that). They told me that they never heard of that before, but bring it by Monday or Tuesday and they'll check it out. I drop it off yesterday and surprisingly... it actually keeps the parking lights on this time. The last time I took it to a dealer (not this one), it did it all week before, but worked fine for them. Anyways... they took it right into the shop and had Hertz pick me up for a rental car.(headbang) If I didn't hear from them by noon today, I was to call them.

Today, I give them a call at 11am since I got an early lunch. I end up getting passed on to the tech that actually worked on my car with the issue(shocked) . What he told me was that one of the wires off the alarm harness had been rubbed to where it was cut (you guys who still have the alarm problem, this may be an area to look at). He put in a new harness and rerouted the wiring so it wouldn't rub up against anything sharp and on top of that he was finishing the paperwork as we spoke so I can pick it up once I get off of work.

For icing on the cake, he also informed me that the display on the Kenwood went out while he was working on the car and he has a new head unit on order. That surprised the heck out of me to say the least.

I think I'm going to stop by and get a dozen doughnuts for the service guys (would rather buy them a beer).

Just wanted to pass on that all dealers aren't dicks about stuff.

Good to hear good news for a change and good plan on the doughnuts.
A five'er for the tech couldn't hurt either.

Nope. Just got off the phone with them about an hour ago. Though i did get a real crappy rental (never buy a new Cavalier).

Never buy any Cavalier. At least you get to beat the hell out of a rental.

Hmmm, you sure he didn't just short circuit something and blow the head unit? Well hey, at least they took initiative and ordered you a new one.

I was hoping that they could just credit me the money because I'm looking at swapping up for an Excelon head unit.

It's true, not all service departments are bad. The service department at Wayne Mazda in Wayne, New Jersey is one of the best. The tech told me about the ecu flash, coolant leak, and front bushings problem before I ever read about them on this forum. He also ran the wire for my radar detector under the dash to better conceal it.

It's always good to hear about a good service department. I have no problem paying 24.95 for my oil changes when I get service like that.....it's good business.
