ya, I'm kinda leaning that way. But the unichip seems like the safer way to get power???

Both are very important mods...the most important IMO.
The stock maps and the stock IC both suck...it's tough deciding which one sucks more though...lol
I'd go for the tuner computer.

eh.. a friend of mine has a matrix XRS w/ a unichip.. driven his car a lot with and without it.. Never noticed a difference..
you'll be more satisfied w/ hardpipes and FMIC.. then use the 100 dollars left for a joepmbc and a fuel cut D.
put it up to 8 or 9 psi and feel the HUGE difference! and dats on da safe side. !

I thought the emanage and our ecu was proved to not get along, long ago??? I'm currently all stock.
By the way, corksports latest dyno looks mighty nice.

BinaryRotary and a few others have found a way to make it and the Apexi SAFC series work using an FM voltage clamp

That's also with a CAI and Catback at 10 psi.
How do they calculate flywheel hp on a chassis dyno? You can't.

I dont think anyone has actually used the Apexi SAFC and gotten it work work yet though. It should in theory work though. Also the emanage lets you control timing where the SAFC doesnt.

I am in the same boat here. 1 G neding to be converted into engine modifications. Just passsed 5000 miles with my mazdaspeed and am ready to do modifications. I know this forum has been discussed before and have done mucho "searching" to respect the rules. But at the same time those forums are a little older and there are more mods available now, FMIC's and the chip from Corksport. So i am curious to see what everyone says. But am curious to see who is actually recomending things or just selling products.
thanks

I'd get the HiBoost FMIC & then SAVE the rest of your $$ until you can get a downpipe. Turning up the boost won't do much with stock exhaust, even if you've got the FMIC.

also-- is that corksport piggy back already ready for sale?? hadnt heard of that -=D

I am located in Portland, corksport is too, near the airport. As if that means anything. I have been to their shop a couple times. Seems like a true MAZDA operation. All kinds of old rally looking 323's and a bunch of old rx-7 turbo II's in the parking lot.
I have been looking for a true exhaust system but need to keep my cats, or atleast emisions legal. I have already gone to an exhaust specialties shop (older guys from the NHRA days that used to drag in th 70's proffesionaly) and started a cheap 2.5 system, $130. They customed 2.5 from the cats back and put a magnaflow muffler and a huge tip on for performance reasons not looks. Even though you cant really get performance yet. I had them do this as a start until the guy could figure out how to go striaght from the turbo back. He called me recently and said he would run 2.5 straight out of the turbo down to where we left off. Bid me at $550. Not to impressed with this qoute and still want to wait and see.
So no go on FMIC and Chip?

the corksport is supposedly in its true final stage of RnD. I would believe its out by the end of the week or next.

Add in the cost of all the stuff you need to make it work & it's not so cheap anymore.
