Well, I finally got the install complete and I am now saving to complete the bottom portion by adding an 8" LCD monitor were the factory HU is. As of right now the factory HU is dead space but I think that the overall look is great. When the LCD is added in fiberglass it will have a real clean look. I wil post more pics soon. Please excuse the dirtyness of the car but the weather has been so shitty around Pittsburgh lately that I havn't been able to clean it.
Since I do free-lance graphic design I was able to trade services to get this done. I designed a logo and brochure for the shop and in return they did the fiberglass work, painted my Kicker amp shrouds to match, new Alpine headunit They also hooked up my interior neons and ran all the wiring back to the hatch. The wiring/neons was just bonus work since they know that I hook up all my own equipment. They figured while they were fitting everything that they could knock out that part for me for no charge. Pretty cool of them. They always hook me up. They are good people and they do great work.
Here are the pics:

WOW. That's the best I've seen so far. Very nice. Do you have any other pictures of the rest of your audo setup? definately put the nav where the stock HU currently is. Great job!

easily the best i've seen so far....
what are the switches for?

the far left switch controls the interior neons which are located under the right and left of the dash, there are three in the back(one on each side under the small windows and one led roof mounted in the center)
The other switches are for under car neons which are not on yet, strobe lighting that will accompany the system after I get it custom installed into the trunk, and one switch will probally be for the LCD screen that is getting installed soon.

although, i'm not a big fan of the neon stuff, i'm still speechless, and very, very jealous.

Splitvizion, insane stuff. I really like the positioning, do the steering wheel mounted stereo controls still work?

Great job, best install I have seen.
One suggestion though, the background of the switches, might look good in carbon fiber design like the surrounding.

Thanks for everybodys compliments. I can't wait to finish with the LCD screen install. To answer a few questions: The steering wheel buttons are not functional as of now but with a little wiring I will have them working again soon, hopefully. As for the carbon fiber look I felt that it would be nearly impossible to match the same carbon fiber look that came factory. That is why I went with the red lexan. I think black would look good as well but I wanted to keep some red in the design since that is the color scheme that I am going for.

Is that the alpine deck that you can change the color on? Or is it fixed at blue?

no problem with glare. just hard as hell to keep clean. just like the paint on your car, dust is always there. I just keep a rag in the car to wipe it off.

Its the AlpineHU that is the model below the color changing model. I didn't want to pay around $100 extra just for that feature. I will have to deal with the differant color HU display.

You dont miss your center vents??? I like the way it looks, very clean and professional install but if anyone ever sits in the back of your car they are going to hate you.

no I don't miss the vents and everybody that sits in the back allready hates me because they all say that my system makes them wanna throw up or it makes their head vibrate and hurt. It will suck to be them when I upgrade to the 1200.1 Kicker instead of my 600.1. I might be ridin solo. Oh well. LOL

How did you get the toggle panel like that? Is that an aftermarket I can find for some reason?

It is red lexan that is 3/16" thick with the holes drilled and sealed into the piece with an apoxy.

I was going to comment on how incredible the job looks, but the missing vents?! (pissed) I'd die if I only had the side vents to depend on. Us Texans need as much cooling as possible. :)
The housing does look awesome though. I hope you're able to remove the faceplate from that unit. It makes a mighty inviting thing for car thieves.

yeah you can remove the faceplate. I am really happy with the Alpine HU. I have always had Pioneer HU's and was never really impressed with them besides the fact that they had the Organic EL available.
