Header time..and other stuff!!!

OK! well this thread is full of neat stuff:D and bad stuff:(
First the good stuff. I just graduated from Rutgers University and i had a small windfall. So I decided i am going to get the OBX 421 header and install it myself, with some friends help of course. However i do have some bad news that i may post in another forum... here it is
Apparently Nick, perfworks, is in the hospital, according to Roni. Now i havent independently verified this but it makes sense since he hasnt gotten back to me and his voicemail was changed to a redirection to Wagner's #.
So anyone who has ordered anything be aware, as well as those who are interested in ietms, u should postpone your plans for now.
This will also delay my cam install.... but in reality i could have afforded to do it elsewhere than nick/wagner shop, but for the gain the header is a clear choice. And the OBX will mount right up :D So i will be ordering it soon from www.protegegarage.com Hope this clears up some issues with Nick/turbo performance works.

Quick update on Nick... apparently he is in JAIL. I dont know how or why. Lets just hope it all is ok. Although from what it sounds like he has been there since sunday so it must be very serious.

Well, with all this other crap going on with Perf, I'm just curious as to whether or not he actually ever got my shrty header order. The only person I've had contact with in regards to it was Nick.And that was few and far between. All he said was that the money was rec'd (by him) and that he did up my invoice. I'm starting to see where people are getting their header, or will be shortly, and I've heard JACK about it. I mean, viVid is out west I think, and his is installed. I'm a freaking hour-and-a-half from the shop! I understand his order was in about a week before mine, but I just want some peace of mind.

hahaha...how did you know I was in that??? I didn't realize I mentioned it...In all honestly the hardest class for me so far was a Psych 213 childhood development class...almost dropped it...My girlfriend is all about the human Psyche, I will stick with metal and moving parts...and the CAD crap is what makes it easy...they used to have to just do it with numbers...

Well, check the thread in the FI section. Somebody posted that he is in jail because he's been pocketing money and screwing people over for some time. If you've ordered anything from him and not recieved it, it might be best to call your CC company and revoke the charges. Good luck with that.

Man, that sux... I feel kinda lucky in a way, although I paid by CC. One thing I always did was CC Andy in every email I sent to Nick... that way they couldn't say there was a "communication problem".

Oh, and I am out west... Oregon to be precise.

I don't know about you, but I can't afford to just "forget" about $300.00. I could care less if he's in the hospital, jail, or the Schulykill river, I sent the money, and getting info on my order is like pulling teeth. From a grizzly.

Anyway, Akhilleus, when are you doing the header and cam install, and what kind of gains are you expecting? And congrats on the graduation!

In regards to the exhaust cam i am now thinking i might have it sent out again to WEBcams and have it hardwelded to get more lift and maybe some more duration. I think though that the header will show the biggest gains. ALso i think i might just replace the 2nd cat with a resonator and thats it. until emissions of course.

Damn! The OBX is only a 41 header i believe. Is it still worth getting it. I am not sure about the other 421's, the only one i could get would be from ebay and it requires some modifications to work. what do people think?

Go with the 4-1 man. I have an OBX muffler, and the contruction is FLAWLESS. How long are the primaries? Can you find out? Also, how wide are they and what size is the collector?

The primaries are fairly long.. the collector is pretty big too.

Those primaries look pretty short to me. I'm going to be running 36" primaries, which will be tuned to around 7000RPM.

I have no personal experience with Webcams, but they'll do custom regrinds, or hardwelds. You should contact them if you're interested. Plenty of Miata guys use them, they have grinds that aren't listed on their website too.
