Whats up guys, I dunno what the hell a MP3 or MP5 is, but my friend drives a 2002 Protege' sedan, 16" alloy etc... it has the ball shift knob that the letters crap out on top of the shifter, anyway I was looking for a direct replacement for the shift knob, that just screws right onto the threads, not those cheap APC P.O.S any ideas on where or what to get? thanks, I did a little search, but I'm search impared and clueless on what the codes are for your cars... thanks in advance

welcome

MP3 is a special edition non turboed protege made in 2001.

MP5 is the wagon protege

Kartboy.com sells the kartboy shortshifter and bushings. very easy install.
protegegarage.com sells the B&M shortshifter. TWM sells the TWM shortshifter. all three are ~$100. all are good (I like the B&M)

no short shifter, shes not really into modding her car, but just a direct replacement shift knob, I dont like fucking with the shiftknobs that require extra screws or shift boots, to put together, it jus never sits right, IMO, thanks for the welcome we just need a knob that fits the stock shifter threads :)

it does actually fit as a direct repplacement. no extra screws or anything. you're more likely to pay more than 100 for a deal replacement.

(hand) i just realized i have the stock shifter LOL. $20 shipped. pm me if interested.

You could look at the 2003 Protegé shift knob, it's leather so the #'s won't come off.
