I have a set of the 14" BBS rims from a 93 Miata LE. You can see a sample picture (not mine) at this link: http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html ; they are the third from the top. They weigh 8.5 lbs. each without tires and about 24.5 lbs. each with the 195/60/R14 H-rated all-season Dunlop D60 A2 tires, plenty of tread left, that are currently on them. The rims do not come with center caps. 2 rims are in near-mint condition (look like new), and the other 2 have minor curb rash. It looks like the two with rash were the ones the previous owner put on the right side of the car, thus the curb rash.

The rims should fit any Mazda Protege with the 4x100 lug pattern. So all the 1990-2000 Mazda Proteges (and also Ford Escort and Mazda Miata). I had them on my 2000 Mazda Protege that is currently for sale. I think I bought them used from miata.net in 11/03 and only put about 2000 miles on them. Would make a great autocross package (if you put racing slicks on them), winter package (if you put snow tires on them) or touring package (if you leave them as is).

Asking $375 plus shipping and handling (edited June 21 04).

Email me at ounkny@yahoo.com for more info. Thanks for your interest.

Here's a pic of one of the near-mint ones before it was installed on my car. They are now off my car, but in storage so I didn't have a chance to snap more recent pics.

bump
can also do a local pickup to save the shipping and handling costs.
if you are not near Chicago, IL, the shipping and handling is actually not that bad because the rims themselves are so light.

Natey: sent you a PM. If you are interested in buying, I'm almost sure we can work something out and I can have them shipped out within a couple of days.

hi-perf: sorry, the wheels and tires are being sold as a set. FYI, these sets of rims aren't super-rare, but they can't be found on eBay everyday. So if you are looking for only 2 of them, you might have a hard time. Just giving you a heads up.

you might be able to get these sold on www.forums.vwvortex.com
WE are always looking for BBS's there and they fit non-VR cars

i'll but the other 2 without the tires tho...8.5lbs, shit thats light! 24lbs w/ 195/60. Not bad.

I have the 7 spoke hollow w/ 195/60 azenis and they weigh 29 lbs w/ sumwut bald azenis. 12.5lbs??? i never knew mine weigh that much SHIT!!!

$425? isn't that kinda expensive?

1ofdfew323, those 7-spoke hollows are great rims in their own right.

Yeah, the rim/tires listed here are about 24-25 lb each, not 100% sure. the rims are 8.5 lb each and each tire is about 16 lbs. When I switched from OEM to the 14" BBS rims, the improvement in acceleration was noticeable, and a slight improvement in braking. Handling is hard to characterize because I believe handling was improved but grip was lowered. If you put 14" auto-x tires they would totally rock.

I think $425 is rather cheap. The typical price for these rims without tires is $500-$800, depending on the condition. You can provide counterevidence if you like but these were the prices I encountered when shopping of the rims. The lower price range covers those without centercaps like mine (who knows what the previous buyer did with them) or those with a great deal of curb rash. About $800 will buy you a near-mint set.

I'll stick with $425. I already have one interested buyer and I am never interested in making money on the net (I have a job for that). I have about 4 different items listed for sale, including one whole car, and all are being sold at considerable loses to expedite the sale.

thx for the info. Yes, u are right. $425 for that rims is pretty fair price w/ 2 mint and 2 fair condition rims. If i only knew about this then i would've bought this rims instead of the one i have now.

check ur pm...thx!

1ofdfew, all the miata rims are great choices for the protege, because almost all of them are lighter. some of the early 90's miata rims can be had for around $150 (fair condition) to $250 (good condition) a set. the BBS ones are more expensive because they are from a limited edition car, but considering their weight they are well worth the price. it's hard to find any aftermarket wheels that are that light, and since they are forged they tend to be expensive.

if i wasn't selling my protege, i would definitely keep them for auto-x
