I saved some info posted a while ago about the alignment specs for the Mazdaspeed. Just wondering if anyone remembers them, and if they were accurate. I don't want to give the guy this sheet, and end up having it be wrong...Oh, this is with TEIN coilovers if that makes a difference...And I'm going to get an alignment in about an hour, so any opinions would help.

Do these look right??

FRONT / SPEC / TOL. +/-
--------------------------------------------------
Left camber / -0.97Deg. / 1.00Deg.
Right camber / -0.97Deg. / 1.00Deg.
cross camber / 1.50Deg.
left caster / 2.02Deg. / 1.00Deg.
right caster / 2.02Deg. / 1.00Deg.
cross caster / 1.00Deg.
Total Toe / -0.10Deg. / 0.10Deg.
left SAI / 12.98Deg.
right SAI / 12.98Deg.
cross SAI / (this one is missing info)

REAR / SPEC. / TOL.
---------------------------------------------------
left camber / -0.80Deg. / 1.00Deg.
right camber / -0.80Deg. / 1.00Deg.
cross camber / 1.50Deg.
total toe / -0.10Deg. / 0.10Deg.
Thrust Angle / 0.80Deg.
----------------------------------------------------

And then I found this in another thread. Not sure if they are the same, or if they have different specs. I don't understand this stuff.(dunno)

All 2003 and 2003.5 MAZDASPEED Protege models

NOTE: The purpose of the toe settings below is to provide a slight " total toe-out " condition.

TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT INFORMATION

Adjust tire inflation pressures to 32 PSI cold for both front and rear tires.

On the alignment rack, reduce total toe-in to the following specification.

Front total toe-in (-1.0 ±1.0 mm, -0.04 ± 0.04 in, -0°6' ± 6')

Rear total toe-in (-1.0 ±1.0 mm, -0.04 ± 0.04 in, -0°6' ± 6')

Inspect that the following settings are still within specification.

Caster angle (Front: 2°01' ± 1°)

Kingpin angle (Front: 12°59')

Camber angle (Front: -0°58' ± 1°)

Camber angle (Rear: -0°48' ± 1°)

Verify adjustment.

PDI CLAIM INFORMATION

The PDI time has been increased for the MAZDASPEED Protege model to include the toe adjust alignment procedure. Do not enter claim for the alignment procedure when performing PDI for this vehicle.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT PRE-INSPECTION

A3U021101013W01

1. Inspect the tire inflation, and adjust to the recommended pressure as necessary.

2. Inspect the front wheel for bearing play and correct it if necessary. (See 03–11–1 Wheel Bearing Play

Inspection.)

3. Inspect the wheel and tire runouts. (See 02–50–1 SUSPENSION TECHNICAL DATA.)

4. Inspect the ball joints and steering linkage for excessive looseness.

5. Shake the vehicle to inspect the operation of the shock absorbers.

Note

• The vehicle must be on level ground and unloaded.

• Unloaded ... Fuel tank is full. Engine coolant and engine oil are at specified levels. Spare tire, jack and

tools are in designated positions.

6. Measure the height from the center of the wheel

to the fender brim. The difference between the left

and right measurement must not exceed 10 mm

{0.39 in}.

6. Verify that the boot is not twisted, and install the boot clamp.

7. Adjust the toe-in after adjusting the steering angle.

Camber and Caster Adjustment

1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on safety stands.

2. Remove the mounting block nuts.

3. Push the mounting block downward, and turn it to

the desired position.

4. Install and tighten the mounting nuts to the

specified torque.

Tightening torque

47—62 N·m {4.7—6.4 kgf·m, 34—46 ft·lbf}

Total Toe-in Adjustment

1. Center the steering wheel and confirm that the vehicle wheels/tires are pointing straight.

2. Remove the steering gear boot clamp.

3. Loosen the left and right tie rod locknuts and turn the tie rods equally. Both tie rods are right threaded, so

turning the right tie rod toward the front of the vehicle and the left toward the rear increases toe-in.

Note

• Turning both tie rods one complete turn changes toe-in by about 6 mm {0.24 in} (0°36').

4. Tighten the tie rod locknuts to the specified torque.

Tightening torque

68.7—98.0 N·m {7.0—10.0 kgf·m, 50.7—72.3 ft·lbf}
