I have two questions
1.) where is a good place to buy a carbon fiber hood evo style or OEM
2.) Why in all the pictures do I see the carbon fiber hoods panted on the sides the same color of the car. Can you not get a solid carbon fiber hood where the whole hood is carbon fibers blk. Please let me know if that is people just painting it them selves.

There is a group buy going on right now for the Fiber Images OEM hood. All the carbon fiber hoods for the protege come in solild carbon fiber without pain.

For my money the Fiber Images is the best hood for the protege hands down.
They just completed an Evo 8 style hood group buy, but I believe it's closed. It was also run by the same running the OEM style group buy so you can talk to him about the possibility of getting one in the future.

The painted sides are custom or at least extra. I think people just like the way it looks but I've seen plenty of pictures both ways and perhaps even more all black at first when CF hoods were brand new for the Protege.

I continue to research hoods. I want better ventilation and less weight.
Here's a couple of past discussions:
The following hood looks awesome:

Haven't decided what would be best for me yet...

Ion Hoods are pimp, and before the Fiber Images Evo 8 hood came into play it was the only one I would have considered (Ion OEM with Yellow Weave) but I never bought it because I wanted a functional vented hood. It didn't look like Jack was ever going to get folks to commit to making a vented hood so I jumped in on the Fiber Images group buy. Fiber Images also makes amazing hoods that are top quality.
