I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with my Unorthodox UDP pulley. It has always had a problem with slipping on the alternator pulley. I had my belts retightened recently and everything seemed fine...no noise at all. Now its starting to slip/click again... its only been a couple weeks... as always its worse under heavy alt load(headlights, stereo) and only @ idle. First thing is whether i need a new belt. I have over 30k on the UDP belts and i am wondering if they have reached their limit.... i will be checking for glazed edges.... anything else i should check for? I am also going to clean the pulleys... Now i did use bando belts(unfortunately) so i am also wondering if the gates belts will really solve the problem... ANy ideas.... i have been over this and initially thought it was something i could cure with a better battery or caps... but i find it annoying that i should do anything at all. Also since the belt has been tightened and has loosened multiple times i am wondering if the belt is stretching and could be damged in other ways. Also if it is the alternator bearings would there be any other way to tell besides removing the belts and turning the alt pulley.... please help!!!

i'm pretty sure continual loosening and tightening of the belts doesnt help, but i say just go a new belt and maybe get some course grade sandpaper and rough up the inside of the belt for a bit extra grip

I have Gates belts on mine..dont know if it makes a difference although I have never had any troubles with mine at all..been over a year now. Only ever tightened them once.
Maybe try some belt dressing? (aerosol spray can..think any parts store carries it, supposed to prevent squeeling and slippage)

Ditto... Gates belts for over a year and no problems.
