Alright, I just got my headers on tonight. Running completely cat-less. 4-1 stainless into 2.4" stainless all the way back. Problem..It's loud as all hell..Even with my silencer..still too loud..Are there any mufflers out there that will dampen this..WOT I'm not worried about..up to 4-5k of decent rumble will work for me..Moreover, any recommendations on bigger reasonators..

well i have one now it came with the downpipe jamie gave me. i was catless when i was N/A and let me tell you it was loud as hell, but not too bad after i got used to it. when i put my hks silencer in there it quieted quite a bit but i didnt like the look of the silencer so i took it out.
but now im probably even louder. open dump, and 2.5" turbo back with only one cat and no resonater.

magnaflow muffler, i ran it with 3 inch catless exhaust and it sounded fine.

you guys are turbo..its completely different. my car is absurdly loud without cats..it's just 4-1 header back via 2.4"..even with the silencer...I think i'll put my rear cat back on tomorrow for a while, while i figure out a new approach..

my car is loud as shit with no cats. ebay probe header, to racing mazda test pipe, to jic exhaust = the loud rice.

Put a glasspack on there. It should quiet it down a bit without hurting flow too much. It should at least get rid of the raspiness...

If I'm not mistaken, I remember a post where he said he was using a Magnaflow resonator, *I think*, but I'm not 100% sure. When I had my header on and the JIC catback, it was ok around town but horrible on the highway, and that was still running through the stock cat in between them. Hell, I used to carry a pair of adjustable pliers and a hex key to put the silencer in if I was on the highway for an unexpectedly long period of time.

Use one of those 'turbo' style muscle car mufflers. Glasspacks(straight through) have the least restriction, but obviously they're the loudest. I have cat, resonator AND muffler with my 2.5" exhaust, and it's loud as sin. Sounds good though.

I will post here when I can save up the scrills to actually mod the engine and such. As it is I am just upgrading various suspension parts of the car until I and get a better job and start doing some real power mods.

the first thing you'll notice..there are no real power mods..just things to satisfy you until we all break down and buy a turbo.

I know I know... But I would like to do the cams and header/exhaust thing for a while first. I just can't bring myself to spend the money on a turbo. But I have had the HiBoost broschure in my console for almost a year now...

You all speak blasphemy here! You must stay N/A!! :)
haha, yeah, I have thought about turbo/SC too. But I really want to try to do my car differently. The only problem is, this route is gonna cost a freakin' fortune!
turbo = lots of money up front
N/A = lots more money stretched out over years
Thats ok, we'll see how it goes.

I actually went shopping online for a 93-94 Camaro Z28 with a 6-speed, and found one for 4800. However, it was in questionable shape, and I didnt want to drive 5 hours to not buy a car. Plus, there is no challenge to that. They came with ~240 whp. Too easy. :)

why not get some custom 11:1 compression pistons, headers, cams, cam gears, engine managment, and exhaust. probably some other things I'm missing and shouldn't that get you +200hp at wheels? I'm not sure but it should especially with high comp pistons

I think we will all find out soon.

i'll give up..i've done pretty much every bolt on phsyically possible and timing..its time for boost.

Bolt ons are not where real power is. You have to open it up. Get a 1mm overbore, with high compression pistons, shaved head, larger valves with a 3 angle job, massaged head with gasket matching, custom intake manifold etc etc.
What section are you guys talking about that you have now?

Those 11:1 pistons equal 10:1 at Denver's altitude--5280'. We can run lower octane fuel,
higher compression and hotter timing. But the air's so damn thin, we still can't really get
the grunt you guys can at sea level where the air is much denser. But, I'm on the road
to whatever gains come with your laundry list of budget busters...
