So how many of you have mods that you regret -performance/exterior/audio, etc. ? Remember, this is modifications I'm referring to (I know someone will say "An automatic instead of a manual")

The AWR engine mounts (since removed). Don't get me wrong, if you don't drive 250 miles a day like I do, or don't mind the trade-offs in vibration and noise, these puppies are for you, cuz they do help in auto-x and launching the car hard. I'm too old for that sh*t anymore. :)

not having more money for more mods
No, I live right next to sparkco, they told me that throttle response would be better and I would get better mileage. However, none of that happened.

i regret my big ass woofer and box. but only sometimes. it's harder to get the lovin' on in the car now. the big ass woofer and box take up more trunk space. so you can't make a love deck by folding down both rear seats. you can, but it's just not as nice anymore.

Yeah, i wasted the $$ on the Sparkco Wires. No gain.
The home-engineered air intake instead of just doing a cold air intake. The home-boy caused the wire harness to fail and much wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of ckothes before finally fixing it right. sigh.

I regret installing the m3 style mirrors. I guess I bought a really cheap one that everytime I look at it, it makes me dizzy because it's blurry. And getting a ractive short ram (so I had to return it coz It wouldn't fit). I just got myself an injen cold air which is a lot better than short ram

alright old thread!
i think the main thing i regretted was the awr motor mount. it was nice but after a while the constant vibrations took its toll i think. on me and the car. things began to feel the 2 years of constant vibration and came loose.

I don't understand why people get their balls busted for bumping and old thread up.
If they like the discussion, and want to take part, let them.
If they make a new post, people jump on the "search" or repost harping.
You're fucked if you do and fucked if you don't I guess...

Amen brother.. sad but so true @ the same time. 1 thing I regret is buying my turbo kit... was for one I had never had a turboed car and for two... I didnt really do my research on the topic and ended up with a shitty kit. Took a huge loss on it too when I sold it. Other than that.. nothing.

No, you will forget them, I will make sure of it (wink). Project Xross Links is still in the works. I am close to having the perfect end pieces of the endlinks and working on matching center piece. I will of course report more once I am closer.

Kinda a moot point for me. I sold off a few of the mods and don't bother modding the P5 anymore. I have a 300hp country squire autox car and a 190E benz that I'm currently bulding for autox/track duty.
Amusingly I just noticed a new thread about endlink trouble.... Guess nobody has searched. Similar issues back when Tokico released the Illuminas in 04. I worked with Tony and took care of that issue.
Magus

The problem is the center shaft is too short for P5, they were designed with the MSP in mind. So when you extend them out to fit, they become weak and the unthreaded part bends. As for the design of the pivot, it is not designed for what most people on this board want. Trouble free and maintance free as possible. It is ok if the car is a race car, but not a daily car. Dirt gets in the pivot and they make a lot of noise.
The bending of the endlinks broke my sway bar bracket and messed up one of my tires. When I called Tony, he said just shorten the links, that is not a solution.
I would just put OEM links back on, but I refuse to have to cut them off again because of the stupid design.

Hmm, not quite what I delt with. The length was perfect, the collar/spacers that were on the strut side did not space the hiem out far enough to clear the strut mount tab at steering lock (or less than lock)
I'll try and dig out my old ass pics...might be tough since it was from 4 yrs ago.
Magus
04-22-2008, 05:31 PM
Ah, now I understand. You did not have a problem with the front AWR endlinks length because the MSP and P5 are the same in the front. I could understand the issue with not enough clearance, but that is fixable. Was there any noise because of the links?
The endlinks I am talking about where the rear ones (since I was putting on the progressive rear sway bar).
Mike R

Mine were noisy after about 80,000 miles. I had em in the rear also- on a AWR 21.5mm bar. The links didn't break, the frame mount did though.
