I'm looking at getting the Racing Beat catback, and seeing as that's why i thought the MSP had, i have a deal worked out for one... but i'm questioning myself now

Is the whole cat-back on the MSP 2.25" or is that just the axle-back portion of it?

Thanks!

Vibrant Performance makes an Axel Back for under $200.00. It look nice, I don not know how it flows or sounds...

The Chrome look thick and durable, but I personally would remove it for the winter and put the stockie back on...

well, i'm looking for a 2.25" cat-back.. i was tossing over Magnaflow or Racing Beat.. figure the MSP comes with Racing beat, so that'll save me a whack of money... but talking to Phil, i realised that the resonator and S-pipe are one piece, hence the same as what's on my car

uhhh...the resonator isn't even attached to the s-pipe. but you are correct in that the whole catback is 2.25". actually, the ID of the pipe is smaller. it's more like 2.16".

hold up...

who's right? - is the whole catback 2.25?

my understanding was the the MSP only had a 2-piece cat-back exhaust.. the resonator and the s-pipe and the axle-back part.
my terminology maybe isn't correct, but talking to the guy that's selling the cat-back, he's saying there's only 2 parts, and they are the above-mentioned parts.

ok here's the layout for the entire msp exhaust system. starting from the exhaust manifold, it goes: exhaust manifold -> exhaust turbine -> downpipe (commonly referred to as the s-pipe) -> 1st and 2nd cat -> resonator -> muffler. the catback portion starts from the 2nd cat and goes back to the rear of the car. so you'd be getting a resonator, the muffler, and all the piping that goes with that.

and yes, this comes in two sections if i'm not mistaken. also, the size of the exhaust is all 2.25"......but i think that's the OD of the piping. when i took mine off, i measured the ID of the piping at several locations with a ruler. i forget my exact results but i posted them a while back. i'll find the thread.

EDIT: ok here they are: 1 11/16 - 2 3/8 inches = 1.6875" - 2.375" = 42.8625 mm - 60.325 mm

the range is due to the fact that i measured at both straight sections and crush bent sections.

Ummm. I don't own a MSP and when I built my exaust, I didn't pay much attention to the crap that came off and went into the dumpster... Sorry Man...

I have a MSP exhaust that came off my car when I went to the custom 3". If you interested, PM me. I have everything back from the downpipe. But on the flipside, I love my Magnaflow.

Lil freek, buy the axle back section of a MSP exhaust, and if you want, have a shop make you the section from the cat to the axle back in whatever piping you want.
The axle back should be a direct bolt on.

OT I think. But is the stock muffler a high-flow muffler?

the magnaflow cat-back comes with a muffler.
oval tip, like the racing beat one, but it's 3.5" :p
