Caution Huge Pics

I did some work on my MSP to make it more my own. I took off all three rear badges and got rid of the stock MAZDASPEED right side emblem and the Large Protege left side emblem. I then got a MAZDASPEED raised letter emblem from Malysia(sp) and I bought a VW turbo emblem. I painted each emblem with the mazda touch up paint. I then sprayed a matte finish over all three emblems. I wanted a very subtle look. It looks fairly stock. I like it.

You will also see the blacked out "M" badge in the grill. Very easy to do. Pull it off slow and sand it and paint it. I used a bumper style paint. Not flat and not glossy.

Last thing is the yellow caliper paint. Took several coats to cover completely. I bought the kit from Advance Auto or Pep Boys style place. It was a good kit. Came with a cheap brush, caliper cleaner, yellow paint in a can NOT spray. I did not take off the calipers, didn't need to. I pulled the wheels off and went to town on it.

Last last small thing...I plugged up my lic. plate holes.

Here are the results:

NICE calipers!! well done.. the front emblem looks nice too....how did you take that off and what kind of paint did you use?? i am wanting to do the same to my yellow MSP....also did you paint your grill upper lip blue? (the lip between the emblem and the hood gap) and how did you match it and how did you take that off???

Looks cool, but I have 2 problems with it:

1. I am American & I read from left to right...I think it should say Mazdaspeed Protege with the emblems. With yours, I guess you can do w/e you want. I would have either done new Mazdaspeed/Protege or Turbo/Protege.
2. Yellow on Blue looks awful...Black would have been much nicer.

I think I bought the same kit... mine was $15 and it too came with a can of spray cleaner, brush, tape to mask off stuff, and a can of red caliper dupoint(sp?) paint. Very nice clean result...

Nice job - good to see some originality - I also painted my front emblem black w/bumper spray, and blacked out my rear Protege emblem - I think both look a lot better on my black MSP. Funny, I even have a 'Turbo' badge I had for my '00 GTI (It's a Porsche emblem, and I put it on mine before they started putting them on VW's)...

Good stuff...

I don't know if I would call yellow on blue AWFUL... I don't think you can mix two primary colors and call it AWFUL....

Yeah I like the Porsche turbo emblems better, just nicer looking and easier to read. I would be hesitant to slap something as easily recognizable as a Porsche turbo emblem on any car but a VW or an Audi though.

I like the license plate frame. I was looking at getting the chrome one on ebay, but settled on a $2 licence plate bracket from aap. Maybe I'll get one sometime...

wicked - I thought about black but my main aim was to make them just go away.

warrier04 - 15 bucks. Seemed good quality to me.

MSP#735 - I used floss and a pick to get under it and slowly pry it off. It's actually easy. The paint is bumper paint I bought at Advance Auto. I think even Walmart has it. The lip is stock, I did not paint it.

Black Majik MSP - I am american also. I read from left to right while reading books and written material....not cars. Even if you did read it like that, read Turbo MAZDASPEED. At first I wasn't sure yellow was going to look good but yellow is just about the only color you could go with on a blue car.

lasermp5 - That's it.

TampaBlackMSP - Thank you. I love these cheap mods that really make a difference.

Atreyu - (burnout)

jesse - My lic plate frame is also off eBay. Kinda cheap one. I should have gotten the real carbon fiber one. Also the MAZDASPEED in silver at the bottom is coming off. I think I'll help it off and leave it.

The whole point was to make the badges just go away. I think I achieved that.

yeah , blue on blue is not exactly for my taste, i'd go for black or take them off completely , plug up the holes and use the touch up , so it looks shaved.
the calipers look good imo, so does the front emblem in black. i did the same thing until i got my dg CF grill...hehe

The yellow/blue looks pretty good for the calipers.
The black front looks good (did it on my P5) thought rock chips will get ya'.
Turbo emblem is nice, though I don't like the blue (too subtle).

My 2 cents.
