View Full Version : Some guy nearly jacked my car today
So today, as I came back from my accouting final exam, I saw some piece of green plastic under my seat. I had no idea what it was, so I threw it away and proceeded to start my engine and go home. Then, as I was putting my key into the ignition thing, I realized that the whoel thing is tore apart and the ignition thign (the metal thing where you put your key in) was on the floor on teh passenger side. Some fucktard tried to steal my car while I was doing my exam. Later, as my friends came, they realized that the door handle on the passenger's side was broken.
Called cops, insurance, etc. Waited for 4 hours before my car was towed to the garage. (pissed)
Luckily, I had the factory alarm, so the guy's attempt to steal my car wasn't successful.

thats a relief that he didnt get it done but man does that suck. sorry to hear that man.
I don't know, it just sounds crazy to me cuz
1) it's daytime
2) my school doens't have a parking lot, so students park in an area where there are a lot of houses
3) there is a lot of traffic on the street where I park at

do u think it may have been a fellow student cuz if that's what you're near.
that guy must have been pretty stupid b/c of the following:
1. He tried to get a p5 when there are probably another few hundred cars around that are better than our car (not insulting anyone but its the pure truth.)
2. like u said, daylight, traffic, and neighborhood
3. He didnt succeed
be happy for that reason and i hope u catch that idiot
Yea, I think he might be a studnet of our school. Cuz he'll know that it's the exam period and the car owners wouldn't be back for their cars in like 2 hours.
However, I dont' agree with him trying to steal a p5. THere is always a p5 at the corner of every street, so, woulnd't it be easier for him once he steals the car? I mean, it would be very hard to notice/find it as there are thousands and thousands copies of the same car.

School parking lots are very popular targets because they are mostly unattended. Even if they are, no one pays attention the alarm that's going off and usually the attendant is pretty incompetent. I hear a lot of car thefts happen here at our college and university.
once you are in the car nobody will pay attention to you, really... why did your stock alarm not go off if it was opened without being disarmed?

the OSU parking lots have cameras and they caught these two dudes driving around and stealing spare tires from trucks and suvs where they are exposed. they showed the video on the news of the two guys being caught in action and arrested. pretty funny

green piece was probably the light cover for the tiny ignition light, that sux, make sure they put a new one on unless you want white light coming out =)

Just glad to hear he/she/it wasn't succesful.
Do you know if this is common where you go to school? Have you heard of this sorta thing happening to anybody else around there?
Oh yeah, and we all know the P5 looks sweet and all, but was there anything on the car that might've caught the (potential) thief's eye? Like any nice mods? Doors unlocked? Windows down?
Just seems weird, like some guy up there said, he'd choose a P5 of all cars to target in broad daylight.
But if like you said, the P5 is a popular car where you are, I guess there's less of a chance of being caught/noticed.
Thankfully for me, there are like NO Protege5s within a ten mile radius of me it seems, and certainly no yellow ones. So if my car was stolen, it would probably be pretty easy for the cops to track down.
Another benefit of yellow. (nana)
I don't think that there were any incidents of car theft before. My friend told me that, apparently, there seems to have some surveillance cameras there, so I'll go to school to ask.
As I said earlier, my school doesn' thave a parking lot, and we have to go chnage the parking spot every 2 hours, so, people go to their car often. That is why there aren't many car thefts.

that totally sucks man...
someone broke into my first car in a college parking lot too... it was a 83 rx7. they took my cd player and a bunch of cds but i guess they thought the car was in too crappy condition to bother with taking....
the security in those places is a joke; glad your alarm helped you keep a car!
Best of luck!
Yea it sucks. The guy called me today and it costs me 1375$ CAD to get it repaired. Insurance is going to pay for it, but I have a 500$ deductible. They gave me a courtesy car, so I'm stuck with a crappy Pontiac Grand AM GT for a week :(

Does anyone know if our cars have any type of passive anti-theft devices like an engine immobilizer or anything like that?

Side-Note (off topic) About 2 years before i owned my P5, i was cruising down westheimer with this girlfriend of mine... We stopped at this light and two guys came up and pulled out guns and told us to get out of the car, which suffice to say i did, and then stupidly recalling some Jackie Chan movie i had seen, prolly Rush Hour, i tried to take the gun away and he shot me... I lay there thinking, hmmm, im such a moron... Im going to die...
Although not related to the story i can relate to how you feel when you get into your car and realize someone tried to steal it... When they stole my Benz i was like f!*& Co*&, ba&**
My Valentine 1 was gone, my stereo, my 100 dollars, rims, after that i promise never to get a expensive car again... :(:(

I have heard that these people work in teams, they have some fuck follow you to class while another bitch breaks into your car. That way they know if you turn around and come back. Good luck finding those ball less sons of fucks.

Yeah i got shot, well their is alot of humor to the story.. First, was when i tried to take the gun away... Ive never touched a gun before, so when i grabbed it, i was like WTF... Now what... Anyways...
Second funny thing, the guy didnt know how to turn on the car... You know how Mercedes got that weird key setup thing... He told me... "if you dont turn on the car for me im going to kill your friend..." I was like shyte, kill my friend save my car... :):) J/K
Third, while im in the ambulance, the paramedic was like oh shyte, the bullet is in your leg, now when you go through metal detectors they are going to go off... Im like (fu) you my friend...
Suffice to say, i get to the hospital and they say thers an entrance and exit wound... (scratch)

I for one at this moment, hate anything that has to deal with guns... I remember when i went to my fiance's brothers house, he showed me this gun of his a Desert Eagle... From the Israeli Special Forces or some crazy shyte like that... 1.) How did he get it (I havent figured it out) 2.) Whats he doing with it in a house with children...
Lastly, i saw it, and i started to sweat... Scary... It was huuuuuge...

It is always amazing how places of higher education have so many a**holes that seems to show up there. In graduate school I drove a '59 Ford Galaxie that my great-grandfather bought new. Went to get it to take my future wife out to eat for her birthday one day and some crap-for-brains(drunk) had busted both rear tail lights.
Guns are just like anything else - in the hands of idiots anything is dangerous.
