Last week I took in my MSP with a little over 4000 miles on it for a check engine light and some other minor things. I explained to the service guy that my car was feeling sluggish and when I revved the engine from an idle there was a rattling under the hood. I got a call telling me that the MAF sensor was bad and that they had to replace my catalytic converter. No big deal right. I got another phone call back in about an hour stating that Mazda had 2 other MSP with the same symptoms. Something about some bolts coming lose on air intake systems and getting sucked back into the engine. If this was the case they were going to put a new one in. Anybody else hear of this problem?

Hmmm I guess it's a good thing that I replaced the intake and IC pipes then?

I don't know for sure if the bolts getting sucked into the engine but the service rep said something about the bolts loosening. Then about something getting into the engine.

interesting. where did you take your car/where did you get it? I got mine at kingwood mazda. but if I ever have any problems, Im taking it to Jeff Haas. they are VERY good with the service department.

I bought mine at Mazda of Clear Lake. They seem to be doing a good job. At least they are keeping me informed. Supposedly, the screws or bolts would have been in the catalytic converter. They didn't find any so hopefully I won't be without my car for a long time. Should know more tomorrow.

You know - I don't trust the Mazda of Clear Lake service department. They didn't strike me as exceptionally on top of things the couple of times I've had my car there.
