A Silencer's Effectiveness

For all of you with silencers:

I'm thinking about getting one for my exhaust because it makes a LOUD droning sound when lifting off the throttle. Have you guys noticed a noticeable improvement with a silencer?

it will help with the sound but will rob you of some power....

Silencers are great at sound deadening. You lose most of the gains, but its worth it for just daily driving, and they are a 30 second removal for race use.
