I was thinking of doing a shoe maker version of a down-pipe with a Hi-flow cat since i'm a tight a$$ with cash and it doesn't look that hard. (braindead

If anyone could help me finding the proper 3 bolt flange, and a spec on what hi-flow cat, i'd be very greatfull. I know most vendors have flanges laser cut, but i will hopefully machine a decent one with the proper spec.

I think it might be worth saving cash, since i get tubing for $0. (rockon)

Does anyone know if its a special Hi-Flow cat? Or can i just buy and 2.5" one. Like a "Round Magniflow one"??

thanks to all for the help above. I'm going for it :)

i think you should be able to manage with just about any cat that matches up...just make sure you use a high flow one for more power

1fasstmsp - What did you do to your exhaust? Replace the 2 cats with 1 high flow one?

Has anyone else successfully made their own Downpipe? OR had a local shop build one for them?

yes, i replaced the 2 cats with one 3" high flow cat.

the problem with the down pipe is that the flange has to match up, and to make your own, you have to have the right equipment.

I donno, it looks pretty simple. I don't have any special equipment besides the Tig welder, so i was going to wing it. The apex one looks perfectly straight so i was going to try that first.

Fuz maybe i'll just see what a local guy wants to make one for me.

i was going to go the same route that you are, and opted not to, because the thing that i don't have is the equipment to bend and cut pipes, or the experience welding it so that it is a functional system. i am not trying to discourage you, just being realistic...
