werd, the front bumper itself should be recalled. It's becoming an annoyance.

Have a body shop spray 3 to 5 milimeters of clear coat on your car. It should cost less than $300 and will prevent most of this chips.

being a common concern. Please understand recalls are mandated by the
Federal Government, not by individual car manufacturers.
If you feel there is a defect with your car that is causing the paint
to chip, you would just need to have it inspected by a Mazda
dealership. The factory warranty covers all defects with the vehicle
for the first 48 months or 50,000 miles. If the dealership determines
this is a defect they will be able to repair it under the warranty."
This is the reason I feel that we all need to bombard them with complaints about the paint.

It can't hurt anything. When my wife wrecked her '01 Ford Escape (Shut up, it's a good car....) the body shop that did the repairs on the front end said that it would resist paint chips better than stock after their work. As I sat there expecting him to tell me about some breakthrough in paint technology, he said that the factory paints the cars with robotic paint systems that put a precise 3mm of clearcoat on top of the paint (with 3mm of paint on the sheet metal). That's a total of 6mm of material between that rock and bare metal. I was shocked, to say the least.
He said that by virtue of the fact that most body shops spray by hand, you wind up with about 5 to 6mm of clearcoat on top of the paint after repairs.
