A friend was over last night, and so we went for a cruise in my car. He really really liked it, but said that his '95 Prelude with intake would smoke it big time. Now, I was there the day he got his prelude...and I drove it and I don't remember it being all that fast. So he kept talking $h1t and so I eventaully challenged him to a race. Smoked his @ss. Twice. Who's your daddy? I believe I've earned some stars for this one....

I take it this Prelude was a weaker model (the S model)? I have a hard time thinking a MP3 could beat a 190hp VTEC prelude :D.

He said it was whatever the special edition was...according to him it was the high end model. It does not, however, have a vtec in it. What are all the model names? If you list them I think I'd be able to pick it out.

Yeah if there is no VTEC engine it is kinda slow. Underpowered and heavy. That model with the VTEC engine, Prelude SI, they are fast as hell. I have heard of stock ones running in the 14s. A big jump, 14s-16s.

In 95 (4th gen) there was the S, Si and VTEC. Like initialRES said, the non-VTECs were pretty slow and heavy. But still, you can say "I beat a Prelude" and have some truth to it :).

Well, I have had 3 Ludes'. 90 SR@135HP, 92SR@160HP, 97S@195HP. Except the 90', I don't think the MP3 has a prayer at catching the rest in a straight line. Since I've bought the MP3, I've been devating wether or not the MP3 handles better then the 97 I had.
The tires are a lot stickier, and I think over a "perfectly paved road" the MP3 will out handle it, but, over normal bumpy roads I think the Prelude absorbs the bumps better where the MP3 will bounce or jitter over bad bumps due to the stiffer suspension.
I'm still debating that though. I don't have the Lude no more, so I'm going by just memory. I had to get rid of the lude in 99....don't ask. I miss that car.
If I could figure out how to post pics here I'd post a few.
arg.....devating = debating
Oh, and the 92'-96 Prelude S ( Base Model)had only like 130hp. The SR had 160, and the vtec had 190. the S model had SHITTY tires, with hub cabs, had a crap suspension, and was just to heavey for 130hp. SR @ 160 was A LOT faster/quicker, and 190 was a little better again. I think I've driven every make/model Prelude since 87', every honda for that matter. Heck I used to work for a Honda Dealership many years ago.

I think it was either the "S" or the "SR". I'm pretty sure that there was an "S" in there somewhere. He was also making claims of it being around 16-170hp...and he said it was "10hp less than the vtec", but then again, he was also claiming that his bolt-on intake gave him like 20HP or something absurd.
Sounds like you taught the boy a lesson....damn, wish I saw his face. I love seeing guys like that eating their own words

Ummm do you forget he is boosted?
I have no problem believing his car would take any prelude.
Now a stock MP3 would be different, but kooldino is definitely not stock...

Chas, I can honestly say I have no idea whether your response was actually congradulatory or if you were being passive agressive and sarcastic. Please explain.

all of the above..(hand) j/king
Congradulatory...but making a point..that there is no reason that he wouldn't kill the prelude..
Reminds me of the other night..racing a ford focus SVT..guy was like..is that a honda..i was like no..A mazda..he was like those are slow..well light turned green beat him by over 2cl's...by 3rd gear..we stopped at a light..and he was like..damn that car is FAST!(smoke)

I had a 92 Prelude SI. The non-vtec is a 2.3L 160hp. They aren't very fast cause they are so heavy. Bad Juju had my 92 now. Good kill, it should have been easy for a turbo MP3.

Geez man, how did you guys come across such an old thread? That was back in the days of the old BB system too! When we had star ratings for users or some crap.
Yeah, I was bone stock back then. Haha, smoked his ass. That was priceless.
But yeah, nowaday...there's not much out there that can pull on me. ;)
