estimated gains from a highflow cat on stock exhaust piping = 1 whp..

Only 1whp (boom01) !? I would have expected around 5 !!!
How come an empty CAT made 10whp !??

He was being sarcastic, he doesn't even own a msp so he wouldn't really know. jk Jeff.:) Where did you hear that an empty cat made 10whp? Doesn't seem right to me.

acctualy i wasn't being sarcastic, with stock piping a "hi-flow" cat wont really do anything..yes im curious about this "empty" cat also making 10whp where did you see this.

I was being sarcastic when I said that.;) Thought that my questioning of the 10whp would make that obvious, sorry, hehe.

Let me take a shot at this one.
The bottleneck in the exhaust sysyem is the 2 stock cats on the stock piping.
I would imagine the cats are more of the problem than the piping (although it is small)
People adding downpipes (actually mid pipes) and running catless are adding 10-15 hp.
The Corksport exhaust which replaces the stock cats adds a reported 13 hp.
So, deleting the stock cats is basically the same as a mid pipe with stock size piping.
I could imagine their being gains, better response etc, maybe 5 hp.

There is no way an empty cat will make 10 whp, unless the cat was so clogged up it was acting like a cork. 1whp sound about right.
Don't believe the manufacturer's claimed HP gains!!

Its not a manufacturer... its an MSP owner who just replaces the 2 cats with an empty pipe !!! I dont say the gain is 10whp as he told, but I would expect at least 5whp for that mod if not more.
I heard that those 2 cats are extremely restrictive so replacing them with an empty pipe or an high flow car can be that bad... High flow must certainly make more than 1whp (drunk) !?

I have the Apex 2.5" downpipe with (1) high-flow cat. It made a VERY NOTICEABLE increase in power, especially top end. The car pulls all the way to redline without any decrease in power after 6000RPM like with the stock exhaust.

Also: Every last bit of hesitation I had (I'm flashed, but it's still there just not as bad) is GONE
