(killit) The first flash blows goat! I remember someone in one of the threads claiming they knew someone who knew someone at Mazdaspeed. They claimed there would be a second flash that corrects our ECU's unlike the jury rigged shit the first flash so wonderfully pulls off. Has anyone heard any updates on this? (yawn) This is my first Mazda, I love my MSP but think the way that Mazda as a company treats its customers is a fucking joke! (stooges) If there is no update on this, have any aftermarket companies expressed interest in our problem? Maybe Superchips? Jetchips? (killit)

I heard someone mentioning it too. I thought they said July, but I'm guessing it was all speculation.

LOL
I remember the thread a while back and it was plainly stated that Mazda would not spend the time, resources, or money to do another flash.

There is a second flash, the reason you don't know about it is because just as soon as we(stealerships) got the flash we also got a bulletin not to perform it.
Not soon enough though it cleared an entire ECU on a tribute. If I get any word on a new one that is a little more constructive I will post.

Yeah.. he's talking about a update for the wds.... which come out all the time, and have had nothing to do with protege's... Believe me I keep checking the updates.

Well, they regularly update the flashes for the RX-8, so if we still haven't heard anything for the MSP, well don't expect one.
From an investment standpoint, it doesn't make sense. Mazda already got our money, and MSP's are out of production. The RX-8 still has a few years left in it's first generation run. They still have alot to sell, so of course they're going to try to improve their product, and keep current owners happy.
If Protege owners aren't happy, MNAO doesn't care. They might not get repeat business, but Mazda doesn't sell Proteges anymore, so any bad rep about the Protege really doesn't effect sales.

i was in the dealership last week (dropped car off there yesterday) to have them look at the fuel cut that i hit like a mad man when its cold. I asked them to check if there was a 2nd ecu flash. the mechanic didnt want to do it cuz he said he just did a mazda 6 and it crashed the computer. apperntly all the maps com on a singe cd/dvd. I should be getting a call today.

Should I get my ECU flashed, I've been back and forth on this since Nov. If I do it I need to soon, before I do my exhaust. What's the opinion here?

I say it's a good idea to get it flashed. The only argument against it is for people wanting to crank up the boost a lot without engine management. I recommend engine management when turning up the boost anyway, and the flash gives much better drivability and performance. It's not perfect, but it made a huge difference in my car. I'm stock performance-wise. I may turn up the boost when I have some extra cash for engine management and replacement parts.

Given how quickly some of you guys post, I woulda thought this would make it here by now. Check this thread http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96307.
Seems someone allegedly got an email with info about it. I'm still happy as a clam unflashed...

I say we just do another petition just like the first one. If everyone pretty much agrees the first flash didn't solve the problem, then another petition is valid. All we are asking for is a non-retarded ECU...not unreasonable.

Good God, forget about it. The Protege' is dead to Mazda. The only ones having any problems are the MSP owners. And with such a limited production run, the last thing on their minds is fucking with these cars.

if they would just to it right one time then they wouldn't have any other problems with us, at least not me
