(stooges) I plan on running 12 psi w/ a short ram intake with a heat shield.(probably K&N) Why? In my opinion the only benefit if a cold air is for anyone planning to keep the stock(piece of shit) intercooler. A short ram will give you more air and hence more horsepower with a nice intercooler. Also the most noticable difference in my past experiences with the short ram is throttle response. After all that bullshit has been spewed from my mouth ,(blarf) the question is.....which is the best intercooler out there for our MSP's with cost not being a handicap? I'm not particular to a FMIC,SMIC, or hell a top or bottom mount if there is one out there. Just the coolest. Thanks bros.! (headbang) (blarf) (headbang) (blarf) (headbang) (blarf) (stooges)

ion's kit still looks the best to me. it leaves room for a big radiator too and works with the injen (though that doesn't apply to you).

"I plan on running 12 psi w/ a short ram intake with a heat shield.(probably K&N) Why?"
What's your question?
"A short ram will give you more air and hence more horsepower with a nice intercooler"
What? An intercooler does not give you more air. Intakes= higher air volume into the motor. Intercoolers= greater air density into the motor.
Do it right the first time and buy the intercooler that meets your needs and wants. That being said the Essential Speed, Wagner Motorsports, Pann Auto, iON Performance and HiBoost TS kits all look great. You need to decide what route works best for you and which kit allows the BPV or BOV you want. Compare the core sizes as well.
I'm pretty anxious to see what Mazdaspeed MD does with the prototype kit as well as how Apex Motorsports kit will route the piping.
There is no "best" kit. Don't believe someone if they tell you there is.
Goodluck with 12psi... (confused)

Thanks for all the input but my point was that a short ram will give you more air and more importantly throttle response. I was merely stating that I don't think a CAI is needed with an upgraded intercooler to keep air temp.down. Now if that theory is wrong then I guess I'm just a fucking retard and apologize to everyone(you included). (confused)

lol, nah i agree. cai's are worthless with a good intercooler.

Cut the shit out of the car? I dunno whos you saw but its not very drastic at all. The only cuts are the ones to put the piping through which is less than 3 inches.

Cutting the shit out of a Mazda, Did it, but you do not need to.

install it.

I am waiting for the HiBoost FMIC. It has to work with the Injen intake, so you may not be interested in it.
