I have a 1999 Protege ES. I am wondering if Racing Beat's new exhaust system for the '01-'02 2.0 Protege will fit my car. Thanks!

Welcome to the fold, newbie.
have fun, and remember to search before you ask questions like "does anyone here have turbo?"
(drinks) toast to you from the resident alkie!
Search "racingbeat exhaust" for your answer. Yes, people here have them.

Just added the Racing Beat to my 01' ES and it fits nicely. I believe that it will fit your provided you have a 1.8 liter. i think the 1.6 liter was different. I have worked on a 99' and all seems to be the same with just some minor styling changes. If I were you though i would give Racing Beat a shout and ask the question before you dish the bills. Good Luck and Welcome!

Thanks for the Racing Beat info. I have called/emailed with Racing Beat a couple times this year and they don't seem to know if this exhaust will fit a 99 Protege ES (1.8L). The mechanic I spoke with at my dealer says they are the same car but would want to check the numbers first to make sure. Anyone? Thanks!

Nice low rumble on engine start, but at idle not much different than stock. From about 2500 to 4500 rpm there is a slight difference. WOT it has the meanest low growl I have ever heard. This system is ideal if you want to stay away from that coffee can ricer sound. I find this system to be the best on the market for our cars at this time. It has a very nice recessed fit and finish and it makes just enough noise to be noticed in a parking lot. Hope that is enough info if you would like more picture i can post. decent HP gain also definitely noticable over stock mid range torque big improvement.

NO one can challenge my ANSA GROWL, NO ONE .
I have an Ansa Automotive exhaust system, removed resonator , 2.25 inch piping. THE deepest growl from a 4 cylinder I've ever heard.
Sound clips coming soon.

I was just going to ask about that exhaust for my 2.0L. It looks like a nice system, and i do not want a super loud exhaust, but just that someone that knows cars would say hmm that is different.
My next question is does anyone have the AEM intake for their 2.0L???

If you want to know more about the AEM intake system please do a search it is in the upper right hand corner of the page. It works just like a search engine. This is one of the most common threads on here is intakes. So to prevent people from posting the same things over and over. Happy Hunting.:)

About the Racing Beat exhaust on a 99:
I went through the same thing with them. they couldn't tell me if it would fit. It WILL FIT without any modification IF you have the California emissions model with the second catalytic converter underneath the car. ALL OTHER MODELS (the federal models) will require the fabrication of a pipe to bridge the gap that's supposed to be filled by that secondary cat. This is easy to do and should take an exhaust shop 30 min. All they need to do is use the flange from your original pipe for the one end and then find a flange that will fit with the RB exhaust.
Or you can try to find a secondary cat from someone who is maybe building a Pro up to race and then you will have both of the flanges.
