View Full Version : Please update me on FPR use with flash...?

I am curious if anyone has any new developments on using Joe P's fuel pressure reducer on a flashed car... since Joe is no longer working with the MSP's, he's not positive about how safe this would be.
Here is the hypothetical situation: flashed, boost around 9 psi, Joe P's FCD, colder copper NGKs... hesitation is still prevalent, expect it to become worse with hotter weather.
I've read the older threads, and it seems like it might be safe... anything new? Has anyone had issues? Has anyone kept track of EGT or any other tell-tale signs?

Ehh should be ok.. but still you really do want as much fuel as possible in a turbo car application.

Looking for a fix for the hesitation... any other ideas short of a piggyback or standalone are welcome (I'm already looking into those options).

Id spend some extra money on denso iridiums... i'll get the part number that works, instead of the BKR7e's. The copper NGKS are nice, but they wont last nearly as long, and are a much more efficient spark.
But if you turn the boost up to 9psi, then honestly, my experiance is that 99% of the hesitation fades away, add on an intake for better air flow in, and im sure it will improve again.
Hesitation as bad as it sucks, means the car is safe to toy with to a point... so take the positive side that at least you can do some minor mods without too much worry. :)

I don't use anything except copper plugs in turbo cars.
Thanks for the help, but the hesitation must go. Might go with an EGT and deal with this myself if no one has anything to offer.

iridiums are fine for turbo.
An EGT gauge would be nice.. but no out of the box piggyback works with our cars...

It sounds like the MPI might work.

I had the FPR on and took it off right before it got flashed, and lemmie tell ya, I must be lucky (at least from what some others have said their car felt like afterward) because it felt like a different car. I still get like Zero hesitation, at least from what I can feel.
I'm more curious about the FCD on a flashed car myself...I don't have one, which of course is why I'm still living at 9-10lbs. Hmm.
