I'm thinking about selling my msp in august and getting a wrx. What did you guys sell your MSPs for? Please post mileage, asking price, selling price, and anything else that might be helpful. Trade-ins too. Thanks!

Wow if I can get $14-15k for it that would be perfect. I've got 10,500 miles on it now, but I'm going to try to drive it as little as possible from now till august (when i'd be selling it).
Discreet: Yeah I'd be getting an 04 most likely, blue sedan no wing...hotness. You'll probably still be boosting higher than me though lol :)
Anyone here successfully sold them at 15k? This is some good news. Thanks for the replies.

Don't know about selling it, but I got $13,500 for a trade THREE MONTHS after buying it. The dealer I traded it in at called a Mazdaspeed dealer and they told "we can't even give these things away, I wouldn't pay more than $12,500". Sucks :(.

Hmm, yeah that's what I was planning on getting for it, Joe. But looking at autotrader etc they're all selling for 16-18k. If I can get 17k for my car now, then I'm definitely selling this week and getting a wrx. I think I might post an ad for 18k and see if anyone bites. While yeah, you used to be able to get these cars for relatively cheap, I think now the value isn't as low as people here say because you can't get them anymore, so if someone wants one they'll have to pay what people are selling them for, and that seems to be 16-18k. Someone one hear said he had 3 people contact him after posting an ad for an msp at 18k.
Do you guys think I should take out the turbo timer before I sell it? I could reuse it for the WRX, and people won't have to worry about buying a "modified" car, could make value go up. What do you guys think? I'm quite excited right now. If I get 17k for the car then WRX here I come. If I can get 15-16k then WRX will happy by early summer.

Id listed it for 17-18k why not? See if you get any calls its worth a try! I would take off the turbo timer and put it on the rex because most people do not care for mods.

I was told be the dealer to wait until the rebates were done, then the prices would go back up.
Since they are all gone, then I would list for 18K... shit why not. The WORST you should get would be 15K in our area.

yea all the rebates were bringing down the value of our car. They were selling for like 16500 with the rebates.

Let me know how that goes, I was actually planning on doing the exact same thing around aug-sept. An 04 in either white, black or silver w/ no spoiler is the definition of hotness. Hopefully you can get at least 15 by then. And maybe they'll let an 04 go for a little cheaper at that time of the year. Hey, actually if you want check this guy out: http://www.jspek.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6517 His payments are nuts though.

Now that they are dissapearing, i think the value will hold/go up. Before the market was flooded...now if someone wants one they pretty much have to buy it used. So now I think the value game ball is in our court now. Try for 15,000+. screw it

sucks for you then.
you traded it in. you will get more selling it on your own.
Value is determined by those who are selling...if everyone bends over and gives it away for 13,700 then of course the value will go down.
If people are looking to buy these used, then the SELLERS are determining the market value, unless of course you trade it in.

i talked to one of the guys w/ an autotrader ad up right now and he's asking 1500-2000 grand more than he expects to get. you're outta your damn mind if you pay 17-18K for a used MSP.

No shit. If you hype it up, make it seem better than it is, and rarer than they are, then you can do whatever you want. Anyone on here would be out of thier mind to pay 17K for a used one, but there are other people who don't come to forums and just pretend to be ballers and shit. They'll pay for a 'mad tyte shizzle msp yo' and work double shifts at the Taco Bell.

Just because you got that on your trade doesn't mean that all that it's worth. I was the dealerships job to get you to pay as much as they can for their car and as little as the could for yours...

The problem is all the whining "wahh my car clunks and hesitates- I'm going public with it", "these cars are junk, they blow up", etc. That ruins a cars image and resale value plummets. you can get them new for around $17,000-$19,000- used they are worthless- sucks because a lot of people are going to take a beating on them- many paid over sticker for their car due to the rarity, but once a car is labled as a "problem car", you can't give them away unfortunately :(.

Lol, no because I spoke with the Mazda dealer personally before trading it in about then buying it- they wouldn't touch it :(. If it weren't for that, I would have thought the same thing... Sucks though, it was a nice car.

Yeah the value will NEVER go. It's probably just not going to go down AS MUCH now, but who knows. Cars are not an investment. All I know is, you should put enough down at the time of purchase so you wont ever be upside down on payments. I got lucky and bought mine during the rebate, plus put a good chunk of change down. I just needed a car badly and I had always had my eye on a WRX but I didnt want to buy that $$$ of a car at the moment. The MSP was the next best thing IMHO.

put it up on autotrade with the run till its sold ad for 17,500. I dont know how many blue ones were made but I dont see too many of them for sale. A lot of people have very limited knowledge about the MSP and dont know that the car was avilable for 16k new just a few months ago. U might get lucky and sell it fairly quick. Car looks great and is an excellent value with all the standard equipment, a lot of buyers will be immpressed with that.

That is exactly what I'm thinking. I mean, I'm sure there is *1* person out there who will pay 17,500 for my car, it's just a matter of finding them. Limited edition, one year only, turbo, all of these words are neat to someone who doesn't know a ton. I'm thinking I'll list at $18,000 and see what happens. What's the worst that could happen? Maybe I'll get lucky, maybe I won't. Thanks for the replies.
